Can anyone tell me if the new guitars are dongle (spelling??) based and thus a separate remote unto itself? I'm used to using the wiimote in the guitar (I use the GH guitars, so the Hofner will be my first RB guitar). I'm asking b/c I'll need a 4th remote before release day if they'll be used in the peripherals.
Thanks!

You won't need more than one Wii remote to play RB if you have all RB gear. The drums, guitars, and mikes hook up through the usb ports in the back of the Wii. The bundles come with hubs to allow for all those inputs. Heck RB1 isn't even compatable with the GH Gibson guitar at all because the program only recognizes the USB port for instruments. The guitars are wireless using a little usb dongle as the reciever. I don't know if the drums for this one will be wireless also, but my RB1 drums are not nor was the mike, so expect some cordage.

Thank you. I guess I'll give up my birthday request of a new remote and perhaps ask for a gift card I can put towards the remasters.

Well RB2 drums are wireless, so the drums that come with TBRB will probably be wireless. Microphones will probably be wired though.

Ummm, there's a dongle. And there is no hub. Check this out: (It's the items in the Bundle for Wii)

So...I don't like doing research too much, can someone tell me how I'm going to hook up [2] guitars, [1] drum and [3] mics all using a USB port that's only got [4] inputs? Or is there 2 usb on the back of the Wii? Do I just need [2] of the ports?

I'd assume they are like the RB2 dongles and have 2 usb ports in them... so that gives you 2 more ports and with 2 dongles you should be able to fit it all on those.

That shows the items in the Bundle, and there is no hub. BUT, there's one extra port on the dongle, not 2. BUT, it says this:
"Important USB information: The wireless USB dongle must be plugged directly into the Wii
console. The additional USB port on the guitar’s wireless USB dongle can only be used for
wired peripherals and wireless drum peripherals."

That's weird, because if you look closely at the dongle you can see 2 ports...

The dongles can be daisy-chained; this is why you don't need a hub for the instruments but you do need one for 3 microphones since I don't think any are wireless for Wii.

So if I only get the Limited Edition and two mics, I can put the guitar in one USB port, 3 mics in the other three ports, and the drums in the guitar dongle?

AFAIK the Wii only has 2 usb ports so: 1 port for wired mic, 1 port for 1st dongle (e.g. guitar); then connect 2nd dongle (guitar) to 1st dongle, then connect 3rd dongle (drums) to 2nd dongle, then connect 2nd mic to 3rd dongle -> a hub is needed for the last mic.
Instructions for RB2 set-up that should also apply to TB:RB.
