View Full Version : Which song ommission from the final 20 would disappoint you most?

jay4428

Only 20 on-disc songs left. Of the songs listed, which one's omission would disappoint you the most?

I tried to list songs that were either top selling singles, much talked about in the forums or iconic songs that should be on disc. It wasn't easy listing 9! Unfortunately, there will probably be more than just one of these that doesn't make the cut.

As much as I like "Helter Skelter" and hope it is on disc, I LOVE "Help!" and I hope that song is on the disc.

(Also, I fully expect "Something" to not be on the disc, but will be a part of the Abbey Road DLC along with "Come Together" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)".)

She Said She Said - great guitar, fantastic drumming, good vocals as usual, decent bass

I won't be upset if Hey Jude doesn't get in. It would be fun to sing, but that's about it.

Rain; it's a BEAUTIFUL song to sing (the lead voice and chorus are simply great), very good bass line, solid drums...

omg, just think of it:

Helter Skelter? (AHHHHHHHHH LOOK OUTTTTT !)
or
Rain? (Raiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-iii-iiiiiii-i-ii-iin, I don't miiiiiiinddd.....)

It just sounds awesome compared to Helter Skelter. Of course, "guitar-crashers" will prefer Helter Skelter for difficulty, but in matter of good vocals+instruments, Rain is better and funny to play (Helter will be you and your friends screaming, for me not funny... :S)

It just sounds awesome compared to Helter Skelter. Of course, "guitar-crashers" will prefer Helter Skelter for difficulty

Actually, one of the confirmed songs, "And Your Bird Can Sing" will prolly be the one of the, if not the, hardest songs on guitar if they make you play the harmonized guitar chorus and bridge. It's actually two guitars playing, but if they chart it as chords it could be very tricky to hit.

Also, I would be very sad if Rain doesn't make it in in some form. If they stick to album DLC, Rain won't make it if it isn't on disc, since it was never on an album :-( It was just a B-Side to Paperback Writer.

It would probably be Helter Skelter. As one of the "rockingest" tracks in their catalog, it seems like it would be perfect for the game. Though I expect we'll see all of these either on the disc or DLC. As long as there is DLC, I don't feel like I'll have any reason to feel upset/betrayed/disappointed with the on-disc tracks.

I think that Helter Skelter is such a certainty that I'm not even considering it for this poll (although I wouldn't have voted for it anyway).

There are songs that I would be disappointed to see miss out from this poll (Rain, Help!, the aforementioned Helter Skelter), but the only one I would be actively upset by would be A Day In The Life.

i_c_weiner
07-24-2009, 12:49 AM
To preface, I gave my vote to Helter Skelter, as it's been requested for Rock Band DLC for years now (along with While My Guitar Gently Weeps) and it would be odd with this opportunity now to pass up on it.

Of those in the poll, Helter Skelter and Rain. I'd like Something and Help!, but none of the rest I would be too disappointed or surprised if they weren't included. Of others, definitely While My Guitar Gently Weeps. How can't they include it? I'm thankful that Abbey Road will be DLC or I'd be upset about Come Together, I Want You (She's So Heavy), and Something not being in the game at all.

Rain would be great... awesome drumming by Ringo on that one

John Lennon said in an interview that "Ticket To Ride" was probably the first metal song... I can't remember how he explained it, it's been a while since I heard the interview, but he said something like if you threw on a bunch of distortion to the guitars... I imagine it would sound something like Def Leppard that way... I'm surprised no artist has tried that idea yet

I guess they could chart the violins to guitar and cellos to bass with no drums. It'd be a stretch but I think it could be done. I dont think it will make the disc because of that but I cant wait to get it as DLC.

While those are a bunch of great songs, and Helter Skelter simply FITS the rock band feel for a game.... Hey Jude was my vote. It's just too... well known and loved and GOOD to NOT be on there. I can live with Let it Be not being on disc. It should be DLC, i'd say.... November, week after a Sgt. Pepper release. That's right, i'm calling Sgt. Pepper Full Album DLC for Thanksgiving week.

I actually said the same thing earlier in the forum (although it's not just the Christ, the "crucify me" line ain't gonna make friends either), but then they added I've Got A Feeling so now I'm wondering if they'd care. Granted "wet dream" references aren't as bad as what some people consider a blasphemy, but I figured that TPTB would go for non-controversy entirely with the disc. So I'm holding out hope.

i_c_weiner
07-26-2009, 10:08 PM
It's rated Teen for a reason. On regular old Rock Band we have Say It Ain't So talking about the bottle being ready to blow and a good amount of songs talking about drugs and Jesus. Having a song say "the way things are going, they're gonna crucify me" and "Christ, you know it ain't easy" is nothing compared to what's already been on Rock Band games. And, as chrth_rb mentioned above, I've Got a Feeling says "wet dream", and we shouldn't forget how many want Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds; think of that dreamscape...

"Jesus Christ" is part of the chorus in Man in the Box, and that made it into Rock Band 2, so I don't think that the mentioning of "Christ" would be a problem. And we all know that the Beatles were, and still are, bigger than Jesus.

Mine is probably "Dear Prudence". It's one of my favorite songs off the White Album, and since other gorgeous gems like Martha My Dear, Blackbird and Julia won't make it because of instrumentation, I'd like to have the next best thing. It has such a tight band feel to it, too, moreso than a lot of the other stuff they were doing at that time.

General Lein979

Hey Jude, but I'm guessing it won't make it in but early dlc I'm guessing.

Most of the abbey road stuff is songs that would make cool venues so far. Helter skelter and While My Guitar Gently Weeps seem like they could make a cool venue along with lucy and day in life. Rain also seems like a cool venue.

For the live stuff 5 from each venue. So From me to you and love me do closing the cavern club. She loves you and hard days night finishing Sullivan. I feel fine, help and ticket to ride at shea and we can work it out finishing budokan. Don't let me down and one after 909 for the roof top

I think the problem for me was that I had always known the Blue Album version of it, when the studio album version has a much grander guitar part in the second half of the song. I think I'll reverse my earlier opinion on the track and wish it gets into the game. theINC, just think about Baba O'Reilly by The Who; guitar doesn't kick in until about half-way through the song with that, but, when it does, it gives a booming kick. The same goes for Let It Be; that guitar solo is amazing, and it has a nice part afterward.

#1. "Bad Boy"
#2. "Slow Down"
#3. "Matchbox"
#4. "I Call Your Name"
#5. "You Can't Do That"
#6. "It Wont Be Long"
#7. "When I Get Home"

These are some of their really great hard rockers from 1964. Especially "Bad Boy", a rare song from an EP, that was also covered by Rush in the early '70s.

Yea I know what you guys are saying but if Let It Be was available as DLC and they didn't know any of the songs other than Let It Be, then they would just buy that one song. Those not "fan enough" aren't going to buy a whole album they don't even know just because of one song. That's why the album will sell the album, not a single song. See what I mean?

Well, if they just buy that one song, it's still an extra $2 for HMX (although I wonder if you'll even be able to buy individual songs from the Album DLC? Maybe they'll only be sold in packs? And would it apply to the Wii?). But you also have to consider that even solid Beatles fans aren't all completely made of money; some may be forced to pick and choose which songs/albums to buy.

While it sucks when you think about it, the smart thing for HMX to do is hold back a few of the most popular songs to help motivate sales of the DLC.

I went ahead and counted up and added those who chose "Other" and listed their selection in-thread. Quite a diverse list, which goes to show how hard it is to pick 45 songs to be on-disc. Helter Skelter appears to be the clear choice so far with Hey Jude picking up some momentum. I think While My Guitar Gently Weeps would have gotten a lot more votes though had I included it in the poll <slaps self in face>.

Did this thread really last 10 pages with no mention of You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)?N :Po, only three.

I think I have said before (probably not in this thread) that I'd love for that song to appear on the game somehow. It's just so much fun.

I voted for Help!, because you just have to have that song (preferably with them wearing those stupid blue capes from the album cover). But I'd also be sad if Getting Better or Magical Mystery Tour wasn't on there.

I absolutely love Hey Jude, and Helter Skelter would be a downright blast to play, but i would prob be most upset if A Day in the Life was not on-disc.

a day in the life is possibly the greatest song of all time and will be a crime if not on the disc but i suspect that most beatles songs will be released as dlc anyway so im not that bothered

I'll be devastated if You're Going to Lose That Girl is not on disc. And since I have the 20GB Playstation 3 and no way to run an Ethernet cord to it I won’t be able to get any DLC. I also hope Rocky Raccoon is on disc but it probably won’t be :(

I voted Help! but am getting worried about its inclusion after Ticket to Ride was announced.

Mine was other.
All My Loving being left out would make me a bit upset as this is the song that turned me on to The Beatles.
If not though, well, you can't go wrong with any Beatles setlist.

Money(Thats What I Want). It's the perfect song for 3 vocal harmonies and a great guitar and drum part.

Did I miss something and While My Guitar Gently Weeps has been confirmed? This song has to to be on the disc. I really think it will be since it's pretty perfect for the game, but if it hasn't been confirmed people should be mentioning it.

Hello Goodbye would be a big single to miss and its a fun song to begin with, so it will be probably translate to a fun song to play.

"While My Guitar Gently Weeps," hands down. I'll be really miffed if that wasn't there. That said, it'll still be an awesome game.

Let it Be would be a crushing omission. Most of these be dumb ot leave out unless HMX is just trying get the DLC money.

Helter Skelter. It's a canidate for the first Metal song.

Helter Skelter is pretty much a reply to a Who song/album, so the Who should really take credit then...cause i don't think Helter Skelter (Coordinated chaos) is somehow more raucous or chaotic than something the Who did (also Coordinated chaos, which inspired equally coordinated chaos)
