Meh, just like the guy above me, I can't be bothered to put in all the specs of everything I've got.

Go look at my myspace page, linked in my sig. You'll see plenty of pictures of my kit there at our gigs.

Probably the best pics are under the album of pics from when we opened up for Lacuna Coil and Shadows Fall earlier this year.

It's big, it's red, it's on a rack, it's Pearl and Sabian, it's frickin' huge, and I love it :)

That white kit is ooooold, that's why the caption on those pics says '2004'. I got rid of it several years ago. Look at the more recent pictures, the ones with 2007 in the title :p

Here's a couple:

http://www.drowningsun.com/david/kit1.jpg

http://www.drowningsun.com/david/kit2.jpg

That Zildjian cymbal visible in the 2nd picture is no longer there, they're all Sabian AA or AAX except for the tiny bell cymbal in between my first 2 toms. I've also added another china over near my hi-hat.

The drums are Pearl Masters Series birch, the rack is Pearl, the pedals are Pearl, the sticks are Zildjian 5A Dips, the gloves are Ahead. I think that covers everything...

Some of the kits here are absolutely too large. I couldn't even imagine lugging them around to gigs, setting them up, taking them back down, and resetting them back up at home. I could understand having something like that for recording and practice, but most of the kits shown are simply not practical.

Which is cool :D.

I did it for years, it's really not that bad with a rack. With one person helping, we had it down to around 7 minutes for teardown (and in cases), and about 12-15 for set-up. Soundmen usually *****ed, so we hired our own. Problem solved. I scaled down when I needed fewer drums. (subbing for a country band-never again...)

Like Bearfan said, it's actually not that bad at all with a rack. The only thing I have to do is take the drums themselves off the rack, and the entire thing folds up, cymbals and all, into the trailer. It takes me MAYBE 5 minutes to set it all up on stage, and about the same to break it down. :)

I hear that.

My first band was a country band. I was desperate for a gig and the only thing I could find in the Lawton Oklahoma area was a country band. How terrible the music is.

The music dictates its practicality, not available trunk space.

And all you need for almost every song out there is a snare, a ride, a crash, a kick, two-three toms, a high-hat, and a splash. Move to a double bass if you need it. Thousands of cymbals, hundreds of toms, and a plethora of other gear is simply space taken.

And all you need for almost every song out there is a snare, a ride, a crash, a kick, two-three toms, a high-hat, and a splash.

I highly disagree. Sounds like you really need to expand your musical horizons if you feel that's all that's needed for almost any song. Maybe if you're drumming to Sheryl Crow, Backstreet Boys or something that only requires a straight beat with cookie-cutter fills, but I can't imagine listening to a Tool song and not hear a variety of percussion instruments, drums, cymbals, gongs, timpani, hand drums, and electronic triggers. That is just as much the essence of their music as a guitar or vocals. The same applies to thousands of other bands in just about every other genre.

Check out Terry Bozzio. He's got the biggest kit I've ever seen, but he's also a solo symphonic drummer. There's no way he could create the music he does with the kit you've listed. How about Dream Theater? Rush? Portnoy and Peart are among the greatest drummers of all time, both with huge kits.... what you're saying just sounds just naive and closeminded.

Well, I cannot speak for others, but mine is a pain in the a$$ to break down and set up. The drums are all hand-hammered chromed steel, which weigh a ton. Electronic kits are generally a pain anyways, since they have to be wired up. I love 'em though. At this point, I do not think I will ever go back to acoustic drums...

i don't have any pics, but i have a fibes 6 piece that i play as a 5. it's custom piano black finish made out of fibes here in austin texas. the snare is steel 14 by 6 and i can't remember the brand right now... (my spare is a yamaha with the same dimensions that came with my kit when i bought it used) the i have a 13 inch tom floating over on my crash stand over a 24 by 18 bass the there are two floor toms a 15 and an 18, i usually only use the 18. all cymbals are sabian B8, 14 inch hi hat 16 inch crash and 20 inch ride. i have a 10 inch splash but i rarely put it on. Pearl hi hat stand, dw single belt drive kick(without plate). cheap straight stand for the crash and a cheap ( i think it's a mars store brand (remember them?)) boom stand for the ride. i prefer remo heads but have been experimenting with evans on my snare. I preffer vater wood tip power 5b or rock, but i break sticks so i bought a pair of tommy lee studi o signature ahead because they matched the closest.

i just realised i'm a nobody and nobody cares or is going to read this... yay.

Love to see pics of the Fibes......My first kit was a Fibes, an actual fiberglass kit with brushed gold wrap, from the mid 1970's. They were made in Pennsylvania at that time. Mine were oversized- 13,14,18, and 24". Kind of intimidating for a 7 year old, at the time. lol

Posted this in the other thread too.

I too have been playing on and off for about 13 years or so now. I used to have a Custom made Tama kit when I was younger but I purchased this kit (Pearl Export Series) back in June. I don't think that you can see the whole thing but I've got 16" hi hats, 16" medium crash, 18" medium crash, 18" china, 8" splash, and a 22" ride cymbal. All Zildjian ZHT's (didn't have enough money to buy Z customs). I also use remo pinstripe heads, evan o rings, pearl eliminator double bass pedal (have an iron cobra power glide too), and a 13" pearl piccolo snare drum.

Been playing drums on and off for about 12 years. I used to have '76 Rogers set, but ended up having to pawn it a couple years ago...

Just bought a new set for <$500. New heads, cymbals and a new boom stand ~ $1K. The set really sounds great for the money.

Pearl EX: 10", 12", 13" & 16 Toms - 14" Snare - 22" Bass

Zildjian A Customs: 16" & 18" crashes, 20" ride, and 14" hats

Pearl harware

PDW Throne

Remo Pinstripe batters on the toms with Ebony Ambassadors on the batter (not pictured) Evans E Rings on the toms too. Aquarian Super Kick II and Regulator on the Bass.

Right now I'm using some Steve Gadd signature sticks.
