Listen to that brief little audio clip, can you imagine a good drum beat for that piece? If you can, could you please explain it? Better yet, if possible, upload the drum beat you think would fit it. I need help thinking of a drum beat for it, I'm starting it'd be better suited without drums, but I want to get involved in the song, so, any help?

This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE1mlwUIKO0&feature=related) would be perfect.

Honestly, i think DavidShek or Afterstasis could probably give the best answers.

doesn't sound like it needs a drum beat

Hi-Hat + Rim o' the snare.

If i knew how to do drum tabs, i'd do that for you, because i got something as soon as it started playing, but alas, i do not.

I'll try to make a video later of what i mean.

Well, what is this for? Is this an intro to a song, or is this the song? Is this for a movie? What kind of feel are you going for?

This would definitely work without any drum beat at all. Adding a drum beat would make it sound more... upbeat... sorta.

You could have some sort of HH + rim knock beat like FF suggested, like:

HH |x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-|
Rim Knock |----o-------o---|
Bass |o-----o---o---o-|

Having ride + snare instead would also work.

But to be honest, it seems like no drum beat works better.

Yeah, that's pretty much what i was thinking.

but i agree, it sounds better with no drum beat at all, unless he is trying to make it more upbeat i guess.

I'm pretty sure he was intending for that to be the chorus, or verse. It's just a song that he wrote one night, my other friend, she's writing lyrics for it.

Yeah, it really doesn't need a drum beat, eh? I played those two suggested drum beats along with it, and we agreed that it sounded more upbeat and 'poppy.'

But hey, if anyone can think of anything else, please, be my guest.

I don't think any drums would fit in at all.

half notes on bass and/or hi-hat... keep it simple and score a mega-hit... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QteouGKBKII)

Drum track from Visions.
JK.
IMO a simple hi-hat+bass drum+snare would be nice.
