For further action to take about the patch I invite everyone suffering this problem to call Activision and attempt to find out what is behind the blocking of the patch. Here is the reply I received from Sony after contacting them for information about the patch.

Thank you for writing us.

A third-party company publishes GUITAR HERO. If you have questions or

Either you asked about the wrong game or Sony doesn't have a clue, since this is Rock Band and not Guitar Hero...

According to Activision Sony has had the patch for the PS3 for GHIII for several weeks but has yet to implement it. See this Admin's post from the GHIII website: http://www.guitarhero.com/forums/8/forum_topics/19849

According to Harmonix, Sony has the patch to allow the GHIII LP to work with the PS3 and it's out of their hands.

I think everyone needs to e-mail, call, write Sony and demand action on the patches.

I agree with contacting Sony about these patches. Both of them are in Sony's hands, so they playing God with the patches right now.

Now, whether or not anyone can get through to someone meaningful at Sony's end is a whole other story. The peons that answer the phone will not know anything. If you can successfully escalate a couple of levels, you may get some answers. If anyone can manage to do that, please share!

The patch you're referring to there is actually a GH3 patch , not the legendary Rock Band Les Paul compatibility patch. But either way Harmonix has said that Sony has the patch in their hands, and Sony is still to blame here ( I guess ? I'm looking at you Activision.), and this waiting is just getting ridiculous. I mean , who says something is AVAILABLE ( annoucement (http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=13383)) and then goes a week without giving any real reason for a delay. I'm just frustrated I guess.

Activision will not allow them to send out the patch.

Do you have some secret lab of information on how Activision allows/disallows patches to come out for their competition on various hardware platforms? And why would Activision not want a patch to release for another company, and why would Sony block it because of that?

While Activision may have some role to play with the Rock Band LP patch for the PS3, why would they block their own patch for Guitar Hero III from being implemented through Sony?

This is what leads me to believe that this is in Sony's hands.

Sony appears to be incompetant when it comes to adding patches and DLC. MS and Nintendo's weekly updates are ALWAYS done in a timely fashion. With the Sony Playstation store they NEVER update at a regular time. It's always a guessing game on when new games, Add on's, etc will be posted. Yes, I know it's on Thursdays but it's never at the same time. And, it's usually rather late in the day. If they want to offer updates to their store why don't they simply say they will be available on Friday mornings instead of making the consumer guess what time their network will update?

As a consumer who spent over $600 for my console I have to say that I'm about ready to return it to the store if they can't promise better customer service.
