View Full Version : How long does this process take?

I contacted the EA Support site about my guitar having the double-strum problem on 12/08. I went with Standard return (no $125 credit hold) where they ship me the box to return my guitar in. I immediately received a confirmation e-mail with a UPS tracking number. I checked it on Monday and it said :

Billing information has been sent to UPS. Check site later for updated shipment status or contact shipper for more details.

Since then, it only says "Billing Information Received." When I check the EA support site, the status there says "Label Printed". It has been like this so far all week. I thought 2nd-Day Air would mean a rush was put on these returns. At this rate, I will spend Xmas break with only 2 band members...

I would like someone "in the know" to tell me how this process is supposed to work, and/or if this is the normal wait time. Or anyone on these forums that have gone through this, any info would be great. I am saddened that I will be "axe-less" through the holiday (unless by some miracle the supposed "patch" comes out)

I could be wrong (and probably am) but I think if you choose the standard option they don't send out 2nd Day Air

Its only been 4 days and you did not ask for express. Come on get real it is shipped via UPS ground shipping.

Well I used the express delivery and gave my credit card and everything.

I have called them up 4 or 5 different times to try to get this fixed, Im hoping this last time finally does it

On the UPS tracking site, it says 2nd day air. So this is as real as it gets LOL...

I would ask that only people that fit into the criteria of my first post respond, please. I don't need a simple question and answer thread to get locked due to off-topic posts or foul behavior that I see running rampant through these boards. Thanks in advance.

How is it off topic, and anyhow, its BUISNESS DAYS. There are hundreds of posts on this topic already anyways....

I used the standard option and it did go out 2nd day air, I think the express just means they put a hold on your card until u return your old guitar, has nothing to do with shippment. It took 2 weeks to get the empty box and today is the third week and my guitar is supposed to be delievered. Ask EA if they have another tracking number because for the standard option they have 2 one for the empty box to you and one for the return, at first they gave me the return number which didn't help, but then was given the other number when I emailed them

Takes anywhere from about 2 - 4 days for UPS to actually pick it up (at least it did with mine) and then about another 7 - 10 days to get your gitbox back in the mail.

It really all depends on where you're located. For me, the process went like this:

I used EA's website to request an Express RMA on my guitar, at 11:45 PM on Tuesday 12/4/07. I received the replacement guitar (sent 2nd Day Air) at around 3 PM on Friday 12/7.

I dropped off my broken guitar at the UPS store the next day, Saturday 12/8 at around 4 PM. It got picked up from the store Monday afternoon and actually got shipped out (Ground) Monday night, 12/11 at 2 AM and should be delivered to EA today, 12/12.

Does that give you any better insight into how the Express RMA is supposed to work? Yes, lots and lots and lots of people have had this process take much longer than it did for me, but in an ideal world, this is about how long it should take.

If you do the Standard RMA option, they still send it 2nd Day Air, but they probably won't get it out to UPS quite as quickly. Case in point: I ordered a replacement USB hub via EA's website Standard RMA at 4:30 PM on Sunday 12/9. It is still saying "Label Printed" on EA's website and UPS just says this:

ype: Package
Status: Billing Information Received
Shipped To: CARY, NC, US
Service: 2ND DAY AIR
Weight: 5.00 Lbs

(5 pounds? For that little thing? Meh, who knows...)

Thanks for the quick and insightful responses... So it may well be on it's way already, and the tracking number is for the return label... Cool, that's what I was wondering. I probably am skirting too close to xmas to see my new guitar before then, but here's to hoping.

On a side note, davidshek, how is your replacement holding up?

So far it works beautifully. The fret buttons were a bit clacky at first, but after some use, they quieted down just fine. I have Zero complaints about the new Strat :)

For what it's worth... my replacement got RMAd the same day it arrived. The strum bar only works during slow strumming but doesn't register strums during fast strumming (I proved this on the "tuning" part of the Basic Guitar tutorial. Also, the whammy bar doesn't work at all.

Requested RMA via the website 12/9 (Sunday). It's now 12/12 (Wednesday) and the UPS tracking website still says "Billing Information Received." I just said screw it and went and bought a GH 2 guitar for 60$ at Wal-Mart. It's not as nice as the Strat, imo, but hey it works out of the box.

From looking at GH 3 and RB you can definately tell which company made the hardware... RB is a better game, but a better game with bad hardware is like having a huge Christmas dinner and no mouth. What's the point.

I'm so frustrated right now with EA/Harmonix. I'm going to have to go out and by GH 3 for a quality guitar that I don't like as much as the one that doesn't work. God knows when it will be replaced. I'm just glad I didn't give them 125$ to hold for a month while they send me a bloody box.

the website does not tell you this but if its done over the phone, they say to allow up to 5 days for processing. I waited since the 21, that one still hasnt arrived, i replaced the order though on the third and it shipped out on the 7th, i got it though on the 8th. That was a fast 2 day shipping.
