Are any of you guys playing on a "drummer's throne"? You know, the kinda "official" seat that real drummers sit on.

I ask this because I bought one like 4 days after getting the game and finishing easy drums solo tour while playing on a wooden chair and losing all feeling in my azz cheeks. And I know have extreme back pain and I just want to rule out the "drumming for the last 3 weeks on a stool" theory.

I got mine at guitar center for 25.99. It's by pdp P/N PDDT700. I love it. I have so much room when I play. It's softer than my dinning room table chair of course.

Thanks in advance for checking this thread out.

Here are 2 picks of my "drums set up".

I got a cushioned office chair from Ikea for $30. No arms, mesh back, and pneumatic height adjustment, so it can serve double duty as an actual chair.

I have a Roc'n'soc like this one. Best drum seat ever. The only problem is I only have one so I have to carry it back and from from my studio to my living room.

lol, of course I use an actual stool... it would kill me to use anything else :(

I've got a tama motorcycle stool though... really helped me out with leg fatigue when I switched to a cycle seat ;) Comfortable as hell too.

I saw something similar to that one at GC too, but it was priced at like $149 or $199. I was like, f that for a video game seat. I'm not really a drummer. I just play one on TV. Hehe.

I did sit in it. And I agree with you, it was comfortable as F.

GC and sam ash can thank them for a lot of things if you really think about it. I bet electric drum sets are being played more often now too.

Ahhh I see you're using the "not yet broken" foot pedal that came with the RB set.
;)

Good post. I'm going to visit a music store tonight to see if I can find a "drummer's throne".

No need to put it in quotes. It's called a drum throne. :)

To all others, stop calling them seats or stools

Ok, I'll stop being a drum snob now...

Sorry man. I knew it was actually called a throne, I just didn't know if true musicians called them that too. My buddies call them stools. I correct like a real drummer too. Kinda funny.

I did what both of you did actually. I bought a $20 throne at Sam Ash (basically Guitar Center) just to have something to sit on. Barely any cushion in it. An hour spent sitting on it playing Rock Band one day convinced me that I needed to step up to something better.

I went to Guitar Center and got that same Roc n Soc throne (mine is all black though). Best, throne, ever. At least compared to the $20 one I had. I love it so much I went back a few days later and bought the backrest attachment (another $45). It's so comfortable that I've actually been using it quite a bit on every game I've been playing lately, not just Rock Band!

I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't happen to have some money to burn though. Definitely worth it and then some if you have $150-$195 burning a hole in your pocket.

Yeah see. I didn't have $200 to burn on a throne for a video game. Although, if my back doesn't get any better, I might have to get it because I refuse to play on anything else I have here.

My wife would destroy my "manhood" if you're picking up what I'm putting down.

Yeah I hear ya. I have had mine for about 6 years but the wife did look at me a bit strange when she saw it in the living room. She knows how much they cost because she bought me the backrest for mine way back. I was like, "chill baby, this is the one from the studio" lol.

I actually sit on a pile of 3 or 4+ pillows on the edge of my bed with my legs hanging off and lower the drum kit and it works pretty awesome for me. Until one of the pillows slides out from under me and I have to readjust during a song.

I sit on a couch. Not the best of thrones but it'll suffice.

I was consdering a drummer's throne, but decided that I like my padded computer chair getter.

It has no arms, and has more cushion that a drummer's throne. It is also more adjustable

I probably should have stated that I also have a set of drums (electronic Roland kit, just got it a few months back). So, that $195 I sunk into the Roc n Soc throne wasn't *totally* for Rock Band... although at the moment Rock Band is all I've been playing. I'm just learning how to play drums properly, so the Roland kit isn't getting a whole lot of use yet. The grand plan was to buy Rock Band first, get the basics on drumming, and then invest in a set of drums. Kinda jumped the gun when I saw Guitar Center had 12 months no interest financing. :)

And no, I'm not married, hehe. Ahhh, having money and not having to be responsible, I love it. :D

You could always make the case that a nice throne will save you from painful backaches and inevitable medical bills later in life... I have no strategy for you though when she says "so just stop playing the game then."

Yeah. I actually didn't check ebay for a throne like the one you have. I'm pretty sure there is one out there that is an ebay special that probably costs half that and is just good enough for what I need it for.

Or I could just pop some ultracet pills and play that way. I bet that would catagorize RB as a simulation of the real thing. Then I would know what Lars or David Grohl felt like when they played. Hehe.

I kid. Grohl is the man on drums. Lars is the man on drums. And the guy on here that posts his youtube videos of him owning on expert with a bum drum kit that is taped down. He is the man too.

We had a wooden stool that we cut the legs down on laying around so I just use that. The lack of padding sucks, but I usually get into the game enough that I don't even notice.

Also, I've tried playing sitting on the floor with the drum pads across my lap using my hands (bongo style). Its a pretty fun change of pace.
