There's a new weapon for law enforcement.
News 8 is getting our first look at a triple-action taser gun that can stun three people at once.
The X-26 handheld taser is familiar to most. It seems every week somewhere in the country an incident makes headlines. Taser use has skyrocketed from 500 uses in 2000 to over 14,000 so far in 2009.
While the single-shot taser gun has been beneficial, its limited range and ability to only fire one shot has been ineffective in some situations, according to taser reps.
Taser International is bringing out new lines of products, like the X3-20, which can shoot three separate targets before reloading. They're also showing off the X-Rep, a shotgun taser shell that can fire from a regular shotgun.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department has already tested the round, but at a cost of $150 per shot, it's six times as expensive as their current X-26 guns.
