Come on now, the third Guitar Hero game is out and we finally have Rock Band with the entire set up, but still no tribute to the one man who most expertly fused Blues, Gospel, and Jazz to create Rock and Roll?
I was inspired by forum user "Zeppelin" and his "Oldies Rock Set" thread. This is a more formal and dedicated thread to Chuck Berry though. Lets unite and call for some Chuck Berry please, the single most influential person in all of Rock & Roll...

Without Chuck Berry, we likely would have had very different music come from artists like the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Bob Seger and many others. He deserves his place in these games for sure.
And I dare Harmonix to add the infamous "duckwalk" to the animations for the guitarist as a downloadable update!

Let me say...I LOVE this music period!
I skipped the disco years and fled back to the 1950-60 rock...so I love Chuck Berry, Johnny Rivers, some Elvis, Jan & Dean, Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs, The Ventures and The Beach Boys. Even the early Beatles are really good.
I am a bit concerned with the technical merit of the songs of this period (Ventures and some others excluded). I don't know if 2-3 mins of the same 16 notes passing by at high speed will really entertain the players use to the Metallica songs of today. The vocal interest might be a bit lacking too (I love you ya, ya ya...) let alone the basic drum beats.
However, my main concern is, if you plop one of these types of songs into a mystery set sandwiched between "Sabotage" and "The Hand That Feeds"...how will that sound or play?
The illusion of Rock Band(for me anyway) is that virtually every song in the game COULD be played back to back on SOME radio station. "Creep" has been played on my local radio station right behind "Train Kept a Rollin". I don't know if I would EVER ever hear "Sick" played right behind "Surf City" or "Memphis".
If there would be a way to select full sets of these songs(exluding all others)...like some kind of "era-filter"...oh that would be AWESOME...give me my Buddy Holly glasses!

I want 50/60s music more than anything else...
Maybelline, why can't you be true? ...........LOVE THAT STUFF!!!!!!!!
Roll over Beethoven...Beatles of Berry Version...both sweet.
Is the problem with getting these songs the $, or is it a matter of seperating the audio properly? If that's the case, will we ever get any of the stuff we crave, such as Berry and the Beatles? Does re-mastering help at all? So many questions?
Oh yeah, and Chuck's the MAN!!!!

I think that they don't think there will be a market. My old roommate would say how much the older songs sucked on Guitar Hero (I and II). I might punch someone if I'm playing sweet little sixteen and they say this song sucks.

I gotta say I feel the exact same way, but it's totally worth it because... Hey, it's freaking Chuck Berry man Rock wouldn't be the same without him...

I'm not a big 50's fan, but i gotta admit that Chuck Berry is a must. Johnny B. Goode is a guitar masterpiece. There should also be some blues even if the name is "Rock Band". BB King, John Lee Hooker or even Robert Johnson would be nice. (Yeah, i know, only guitar and voice in Johnson)

The problem with recordings from the 50s (and the first half of the 60s) is that the master recordings were not multi-track recordings.
In order to have songs from that era, they would need to be covers.

Except that Chuck Berry is still alive today and performing (81 years old) and he has re-recorded alot of his songs from the 50's. So there are master and multi-track recordings. For Chuck Berry, at least, there would be no problem about covers...

Yessir! I'm going to watch him play again on Jan. 16th at the Duck Room in St. Louis! He plays there monthly...always a great show! Plus he always signs stuff afterwards and I got a sweet old school record I need to get signed then framed...
ps. Chuck Berry DLC would be amazing along with Muddy Waters or BB King or hell, i'll throw in George Thorogoode (sp?)
As a fellow St. Louisan, I love Chuck Berry. It's an utter travesty that the father of Rock 'n Roll is not in a game with "Rock" in the title.
I was hoping for Run Run Rudolph for Christmas, honestly. Disappointed in that aspect. :(

I couldn't have put it any better... The father of Rock & Roll not being in a single one of these games is indeed a travesty!

I'm seriously surprised that there isn't more support for the father of Rock & Roll... People keep asking for Linkin Park and freaking Fallout Boy, but we can't get behind the man who basically invented the genre?
