whilst predominately listening to rock music,i do tend to dabble in some rap music(when im drunk/partying)
dont mind a bit of jigga, kanye, lupe fiasco,wu tang among others.
now,the main 'instrument in a rap song,to me anyway,is the beat, played by the drums..
using the drums, along with the bassline, and using the rock band guitar to play the main sample(or even bring out an extra instrument, keyboard, decks etc)and of course, using the mic to throw down your rhymes...do you think it is possible?
now,i never thought in a million years that Rock Band could be possible, but the masters at Harmonix have proved many a doubter wrong,so i wouldn't put it past them to come up with this idea.heck, maybe its already being planned!it is Harmonix we're talking about here...
thoughts/opinions please...
thanks.

could you elaborate your opinion please?
i think it would be great fun.
if they(harmonix) want to push it further, why don't they use their 'contacts' at mtv to get nick canon's face on it...
Wild'n Out(is that what its called):The Videogame...
would make a great party game...

It might work, it would probably sell well. Will most of the kids on this forum flame this idea? Yep.

yep,im starting to think that as well..
videogames, and games GH and Rock Band in particular,to me,are all about having fun.not about 'keeping it real' 'being metal as ****' or becoming the best.
we should lighten up,and have some fun.

Well rap/ R & B as far as being in rock band I don't think would work. I think the main reason for this is that there would rarely be use for the guitar in it. I think the main problem is that as you said the main thing about rap is lyrics and beat, and that really wouldn't translate well into rock band.
A Rap and R & B game similar to Rock Band would be a whole other story. I think it could be quite popular where people get to rap along to their favorite rap songs and maybe have like a turn table controller as well as drums and maybe keyboard controllers to play a long with the song, that could be fun. I don't see this happening very soon though.

well, this is what i meant,a completely seperate game, but using the rock band peripherals(much like you can use GH controllers in rock band)
well, another idea, how about the 'rap' game is made up of the drum controller, and 1-3 mics.if you end up using 3mics all the time, you and your friends can go online as a rap band/group (like wu tang,3 6 mafia etc)...
i think the potential is definately there.
although it would take at least 2years to get it done, maybe harmonix are already looking ahead to new ideas/games...

I'd love to see some Drum and Bass songs...some D&B songs have it all, drums, bass, guitar, vocals.

it could work, you could somehow get a turntable in there too. that would be pretty slick.

Rap stuff would work with multiple mics I guess. Trouble is, most of the popular stuff is lyrically explicit, I don't care about that but it would reduce HMX target audience.
You can alter the lyrics to remove the occasional expletive, but if you removed the expletives from a lot of RAP stuff you would end up with songs that went "yeah, beep beep beep, and beep beep beep, so beep beep beep"

It's not METAL!
Everything we do is METAL!
No, I kid.
I think it would be alright actually, would be pretty fun and I can imagine a group of mates pishing around rapping would be hysterical. I'd be well up for it:D

well,i think with the right marketing,and packaging,it could be a 'sell-able' game.
rap cds only have a parental advisory label on it.how about a combination of an 18 certificate and a parental advisory label.
even some kind of age/email check when you go online with it would help.
i do agree with the whole 'losing their target audience' angle, but if the right tracks are chosen(doesnt have to be gansta rap,how about some dee-lite,de la soul, fugees, arrested development(hey!),or jurassic 5)i think it could work as a 'mature-family' game.

There are some kool R & B songs/groups out there that have a band!. Earth, Wind, & Fire are the first to come to mind for me. They were out when KISS was out. Ready for the World (Oh Sheila) was out when Van Halen was out. There are many R & B 70's and 80's Songs that would be great for Rockband. JZ did a song with Linkin Park that could work. Beyonce Uses a band as Well and she has to be the hottest pop singer out there right now. I am sure if we thought hard enough we could find some others.
You guys are right there are not that many Hip-Hop trax that have Guitar in them but I am sure a Keyboard Human Interface would work with the Drum kit and Mic.
