View Full Version : How 'metal' is your job?

Kigalas

State your primary job and rate it on a scale of 1-10. The less 'pure' the better.
Example: 1=I teach Kindergarten 10=I am in a metal band

Me? My main job is putting death dates on tombstones out in the cemetery. I'd say that's a 9. What about you?

Manual labor is definitely a 6+. Did you impale anyone? If yes, then a 10.

Probably about a 5, since I deal drugs... but only if the patient has a prescription. It does lose some points for being at a grocery store though.

Go pharmacy! :)

My former job was considerably more metal: testing out new drugs on lab rats while rocking on my MP3 player. Listening to metal music just made it feel more mean (but more fun). That one would have at least an 8.

Translating isn't very metal in itself, but I do listen to metal a lot while doing it. That and I did subtitle a documentary about Rammstein once, so I give myself a 7.

07-29-2009, 08:27 PM
Elements of Wrathy's job

Customer relations - 1/10 (being friendly? not metal at all. Unless you're 45 or older)
Stocking shelves - 6/10 (esp. when you're facing stuff out - which is moving from the back to the front so it looks like you've put things in, but haven't changed anything... That's lazy and half assed. Totally metal.)
Getting ice cream for people - 8/10 (Ice Cream is metal, if you don't think so you're probably just jealous that I can give ice cream to people)
Killing cardboard boxes - 10/10 (who cares if you're crushing them for recycling purposes? you're still crushing stuff. METALLLLLL)
Working on a till (honestly) - 2/10 (I'm not messing with prices, and I have to be nice, and I don't steal the money. About as metal as Radiohead.)

Overall score - 27/50. I call it "6".

I guess being a Disney Imagineer is pretty un-metal, especially since (and this was kind of a recent crippling realization for me) I work for the same organization that's responsible for Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers.

On the other hand, my job involves a lot of robots, so that's kind of metal. I'm also in a metal band, but we're terrible and we only have three songs right now so I don't think it counts.

I work in a warehouse for a furniture store chain. I build furniture (some of which is made of metal), tear old furniture apart, and move stuff around all day. Sometimes I listen to metal on the radio at work. I guess manual labor that actually involves metal and metal music, and sometimes involves breaking stuff has to be worth at least a 6 or a 7. Right?

You. I love you. Being a Disney Imaginear has been my dream job for my entire life. Literally. I dream of designing rides for Disney. I got all these great concepts and ideas. Its just kind of hard designing them since Im not a great artist.

I got a question though. Ive been taking like architectual classes in school, is that a good idea for one wanting to be an imaginear or atleast desing rides? What else should I take? Art classes or what? Im better at computer design than hand design though. I want to be an imginear. Always have. Love Disney. Grew up on it.

They can be a lot of fun. I had them "help" me build a deck this weekend. You should have seen their little eyes light up when I handed them a hammer and asked them to help. That deck has 5 rows of very measured out lines of nails, and a bunch of random ones scattered all about.

The linear ones are from the kids. ;)
