Did anyone buy PS2 Rock Band yet?

The game-only version is for sale now. I saw it at my local Wal-Mart. I'm wondering what the content exclusive PS2 stuff is. Rumor (IGN) has it that the PS2 has game features only found on the PS2. Can anyone who bought it confirm anything?

I haven't seen this "so-called" PS2 version and I don't know about you but i'm sick of being screwed out of all the next-gen games and systems. Because I'm a poor but loyal gamer i have to suffer until the crap versions of the games come out for PS2 or other systems. I don't have the money to buy X-mas presents for my family never mind a next-gen console for my self so i can defeat my arch nemisis...Boredom! i just think that this gmaing economy is down right sillyy....:mad:

There are many more PS2's than 360's, PS3's and Wii's combined.

It would not be good business to forget that fact.

Considering I am a dirt-poor college student, I understand where you're coming from.

However, the PS3 and 360 have been out more than a year. They're no longer "next-gen", they're "current-gen". Publishers aren't interested in developing for a lame-duck system, especially when the expected price of PS3/360 games is $10 more than PS2 games (thanks, M$).

If you really, really want to play this game, you can make it happen. They're not asking you so sign your life away to become an indentured servant. Set aside a bit of money each paycheck that you'd normally spend on entertainment, pick up an extra shift or two. I'd be willing to bet Rock Band won't be the last game you want to play on the PS3 that isn't available on the PS2.

Just wanted to share a little info for any other cheapskates out there who want to play Rock Band for as little money as possible (ie, PS2, using their existing controllers).

I picked it up an hour ago and have played all of three songs. What I can confirm is that it works with Guitar Hero wired guitars and Karaoke Revolution USB microphone (all of which we already had), and so the primary goal is met--I can play guitar while my wife sings. Woo-hoo!

Graphics are great--supports widescreen & progressive, and the clean look is really easy to play along with. My wife likes the vocals section, so I guess it's at least as good as KR (it will have to get much colder in Hades before I try that part of the game).

So far I'm totally pleased with it. Hopefully there will be expansion discs to get more content, but I can live with what we've got for a long time (until my launch-day PS2 dies and we're forced to join the modern era of gaming).

Thanks for the information. Can you tell us if there's anything you've noticed that is different from the Xbox 360/PS3 versions? The PS2 version is supposed to have exclusive content.

Precisely.

If your only looking for a solid music game with drums/guitars/and vocals...you'll love the game. If you're looking for a more in-depth game (like the world tour mode) you're going to be highly disappointed.
