I am really sick of missing out on all the new "next-gen" games because i don't have the hundreds of dollars that the new consoles cost. I recently bought TH Proving Ground for my PS2. All stoked and ready for hours of fun making videos and pool hopping with Lance(Mountain) I ran to my room, got some snacks and barricaded my self in. I had one of those "just got laid" smiles when i headed out of the store and off to my home. I quickly disappeared when i realized i could not do anything about it except buy a PS3 or 360. So if anyone can give me encouragement enough to keeping living with my same ****ty games please do.

Have you tried saving some money? sell your PS2 cosole and games...if not possible then try to enjoy whatever good games they put out for the PS2 until it dies...hopefully by then the next gen consoles won't be so pricy.

What's the complaint exactly? THPG doesn't have videos or Lance Mountian on the PS2? If you had a next-gen,now current gen I'd say, system then you wouldn't be playing THPG anyway you'd play skate. It'll only get worse. I think the next TH game will be PS3/360 only so it won't get held back due to PS2 and be able to compete with skate.

Yeah just save up the money. Took me like 8 months to get a PS3

Yeah, save some money, sell your PS2 (you can play Ps2 games on your PS3 anyway - if you don't buy the 40 gig version) and you can buy a PS3.

You won't be happy with a PS2 anymore since the console is pretty much dead. That's the fate of every console. Someday they die. You can of course play old games on it, but there won't be any new ones.

Oh, and I absolutly agree with Rock_Starman, skate kicks Tonys ass. Save money, sell your Ps2, buy a Ps3 if you have to (or even better: A 360, console is not so expensive and the games are better. At least they have Bioshock and Mass Effect, the two best games of 2007 besides Rockband) and then say goodbye to last generation and enjoy the current one.

=O NO! Never sell old systems and games! You will regret it later! Oh, if I couldn't go back and play Sonic the Hedgehog for Sega Genesis I would just die! But if yuo don't look backwards, then what you do with your old systems and games is none of my business...

Yeah, the PS2 is seven years old--it's only going to get worse from here on out. Sooner or later they're going to stop making games for it altogether, and probably sooner rather than later. All you can really do about it is save up your money. It might take a while, but if you want to keep playing games it's something you'll have to do eventually anyway.

But, I have to agree that you shouldn't necessarily raise money by selling your old systems and games. You never know when you're going to get a craving to play some PS2 game again, and if you get a 360 or the new PS3 you won't be able to play it on your new console. And hell, for all you know your current games and console might be worth a lot of money to retro gamers someday. ;)

I dunno, PS2 is still gonna be around for a while. It'll have new games for sure... just not top quality games. In the last year PS2 has outsold the 360 in every country but the US where its sold about 3.5mil compared to the 360's 4.5mil.

Maybe you should work more instead of playing games

well, this individual may be a youngin or parents don't allow him (I'll assume gender) to work, etc.. No idea on the situation (but I certainly have friends who match your statement, really annoys me actually). But yeah, all it really comes down to is saving. Find a few things that you spend on weekly or monthly that you could honestly do without and just put that money in a jar or whatever. I would say in a high yield savings account or something but its not like your trying to save thousands or anything, just a few hundred :p

If you're young, live at home, don't have any bills, have a job, and wanted to do it fast: Take your next few paychecks as soon as you get them and pull out 50-60% for this purchase. You'll have to be frugal with the rest each time to make it last until the next pay period but it won't take as long to get what you want.

If I were you I wouldn't sell my old stuff. I have a collection of old stuff and a lot of it isn't my original because I had to re-purchase it since I sold my original stuff. Now I have it all back and more but it's cost me a lot of money.

By the way, if anyone has a Phillips CD-i and/or games for it, please let me know.

haha!! the CD-i... that console had some potential, to bad they just didn't make good games for it, altough I do remember this one really cool game, it was like this sorta first person Kung Fu game, with cinema style graphics, do you know which one I'm talking about Ace?? Anyway, those where the days....

Oh, and the controller was the most awkward uncomfortable thing ever created, there I said it.

Edit: The characters where live actors(extra info).

haha!! the CD-i.

I remember playing the Mad Dog Mcree demo in stores all the time, and thought that this thing (CD-i) was so cool. And then after playing it for a while, it didn't really seem like a video game, but something else.

Dude, I think you're thinking of a Panasonic 3D-O. And the cinema-style game had the 3-way yin yang right? And the third one was blood? That's called "Way of the Warrior" which is a rough translation for "Bushido" if you're curious. The CD-i had the famous "Legend of Zelda: Wand of Gamelon" game, which was not made by Nintendo, but in some strange split, Phillips came away with the rights to make 2 "Zelda" games. Terrible games, both of them.

Nope I can't.

You can't go Wii because to be brutally honest you'll play it now and again but with only 3 proper, decent hardcore titles you're a bit stuffed.

360 and PS3 great consoles, PS3 hasnt got its killer app but if you can wait for some great RPGs its on the way. Want a great online service and FPSs? Go 360.

360s are so bloody cheap now as well.

Holy smokes!! youre right!! now that I think about it, I never played with the CD-i (another doomed system) but I did hear about that lame Zelda game though.

You sure know your stuff FallenAce.

Listen man I know exactly where your coming from with the whole next gen thing. When I heard they were making console specific characters for GH3 I felt leftout (since the 360/PS3 got the better characters IMO) so my entire Christmas list was Xbox 360 and like 4 games for it so I could be busy (Halo 3, Gears of War, Rockband, GH3) and a whole bunch of accesories. So now I'm super happy cause I will have nothing to complain about since I've heard from a special source (Mom) that I AM getting the 360 and my Dad kinda messed up and told me that my sister will be getting her "big" present (Nintendo DS Nintendog Edition) later Christmas night which means I'd get my "big" present (Rockband) at the same time. Why would they wait until later in the day you ask? Because I don't see my grandparents until later in the day and their present for me is the 360. So my advice is ask for it for Christmas or save your money.

I got my PS3 last year for Christmas from my wife when we lived in a cheap apartment and this Summer we moved into a house. Boy am I glad we got that PS3 last year (even though the price has been cut) and not this Christmas. The bills are more, my work has slowed down and I am one of 6 people left in my department of close to 20 at one time after layoffs and all those remaining had to take mandatory hour cuts. My familly is having a tough year as well, my mom, who is in the same line of work as I, was layed off in September and remains unemployed, a family friend who works with me and survivied the layoffs but has had some health issues that have her on part time disability...anyway, its not going to be the blowout Christmas (I talked the wife into it and got Rock Band on release day as my gift so we could swing getting other people gifts) this year like its been in the past but Rock Band seems to get everyone in a better mood when we hang out on the weekends and jam.

Anyway for the original poster, things could be worse than not having a next gen machine.
Enjoy the stuff you already have and with Rock Band the idea has been that as time goes on they will continue to release new songs so alot of us with it now will still be playing it when you can get it.

I had the chance to get a PS3 last year, but I didn't. Because it was too expensive and there were not that many games I wanted to play so I waited a year and got a better deal, plus games that I really want to play. I don't think the PS3 is something unreachable if you save some money and looked for a good deal. Unless you have a minimun wage income
