Dear Harmonix,
In light of the apparent standoff between yourselves and Red Octane regarding the PS3 guitar compatibility issue, it's clear that you will not be able to satisfy the needs of PS3 owners who bought the standalone game, nor the PS3 owners who wish to have a bassist participate in their Rock Band ecstasy.
I would like to recommend that you view this clearly stressful time as an opportunity. You clearly were able to organize a Tiger Team to create a compatibility patch in very short order (less than 2 weeks from launch) so we know you are dedicated to satisfying your clientele. As Activision / Red Octane have decided to be sore, litigious losers, I would like to humbly suggest that you move very quickly to make PS3 guitar purchases available via your support infrastructure.
Now, you will need to drop the price -- $125 US is clearly overpriced as the game itself is around $170 US. But if you could offer the guitars to current owners for $55 or less, it would be a highly effective retort for Activision's stance of blocking compatibility. Further, you would see the money in your own pockets, rather than inviting your loyal users to go purchase a competitor's product. You'll satisfy a large group of your own users, and further cannibalize Guitar Hero's market share at the same time. It's a win-win for you, lose-lose for Activision.
I hope this message finds its way to those individuals in your organization who can act on its contents. Sincerely,
HedonismBot

Cosigned.
But I think the plan is to sell peripherals separately next year. They'd get 'em on the shelves now if they could I'm sure.

I just want my GH2 guitar to work. Either make an adaptor or a patch for it. Although maybe those guitars still belong to Activition and that patch also included those guitars. If so, i really want that patch. Much better than buying another strat.

I'm sure an army of chinese children are working their fingers to the bone to satisfy our insatiable appetite for electronic hardware.
God bless those children and their tiny fingers!

I think their stock of guitars that could have hit shelves for separate purchase are being used up to satisfy warranty claims at the moment.
;)
Also makes me that much more thankful to own a 360 - my RB guitar crapped out, so i'm using two Xplorer GHII controllers in the meantime.

Won't ever happen. They're not USB controllers, so they require an adapter. And because they're Red Octane's guitars, EA's not going to go anywhere near the reverse engineering needed to create an adapter. Not to mention the production costs etc. Software patches are easy, but software can't make your big PS2 connector fit in a USB slot.
