View Full Version : What Led Zeppelin Songs do you want most?

Let's face it. We all want a Led Zeppellin Pack. At least most of us do. And from what I've heard, it might actually happen. But there is a dilemma. With so many great songs that came from Led Zeppelin, there could only be three (at first). So what songs would you pick? Mine personally would be:

1. When the Levee Breaks- Overall great band song. Awesome drum fills, great guitar riffs, great lyrics, good bass.

2. Rock 'n Roll- Come on, who doesn't want to play this song?

3. Many possibilities, but I'd have to say Black Dog or Communication Breakdown. Two great songs.

So what do you want?

And yes, I realize this is probably the trillionth post about this, but I had to see for myself.

If we are limited (which would be HMX suicide if they have the rights) a 3 song pack:

Stairway
Kashmir
Ramble On

Album:
Led Zeppelin IV

or:

Mothership (Greatest Hits)

or:

Give us the whole friggen library...i'd plop down the money for a bunch of those songs.

Although I'd really prefer other types of neglected music to be added to the game before we approach Zep (*coughcough*post-punk*coughcough*goth rock*cough*), I definently feel RB needs a nice three song pack of some of their lesser known songs.

My three-pack suggestions:
"The Lemon Song" (This is the song that inspired me, as well as many others, to pick up the bass guitar in real life. The other instrument parts are uniformly excellent, as is fitting with nearly all of Zep's songs.)
"The Battle of Evermore" (Might be a little repetative, but it is my duty to request this as a LotR fan. :) )
"The Crunge" (Glad to see someone else suggest this little known funk-rock gem! I'd love to do my best James Brown-esque Robert Plant impression for this song.)

Song's short but it just sounds like it was made for this game! Course, I think ANY Zeppelin song would be perfect for this game. ::sigh:: if only......

Are you stupid or something??

If you play rock band and you don't want a Zeppelin Pack, you should just be shot on sight...we really don't need people like you reproducing..

Agree with some of you, the #1 song should be Rock n Roll, not because its there best, but because its the best Rock Band song. When the Levee Breaks is also a great choice, and one of my favourites. If I had to pick a third that was not Stairway (because face it, no matter how ppl feel about this song its there #1 track and still rules) I'd go with No Quarter.

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Trampled Under Foot, Achilles Last Stand, Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Good Times Bad Times, The Crunge, Heartbreaker, the Rover...those are just my top picks. I'd probably buy any song they offer. Every Zeppelin track is worth it, even the bluegrass ones.

And before anyone bashes Stairway to Heaven (which is an amazing song, even if it would be boring in the context of the game) just think about the fact that the implications of the fact that the drummer doesn't play for the first four minutes...four minute freestyle. The ability to screw around for that long (and the possibility to get revenge on the singer and guitarist for making you play it at a party) has to count for something. What I'm saying is, while Stairway to Heaven is one of the worst Zep songs for Rock Band, I'd definitely buy it.

I based my answers on specifics for each instrument arranged in this order: bass, vocal, guitar, drums. If we had a 3 pack my choices would be:

1) Dazed And Confused: Great bass intro and rapid bass jam after violin section; Robert Plant's banshee wail; the violin part and piercing riffs after violin section; Bonzo's triplet.

2) The Song Remains The Same: JPJ's best bass ever; Plant's fluctuation between mellow and hyper vocals; Jimmy's 12-string guitar; Bonzo's snare.

3) In My Time of Dying: my only concern is that the studio version of this song does not showcase the bass guitar nearly as well as live versions do; Plant's "Oh Gabriel" scream and right before the guitar solo where he wails to Jimi, "Ooooooooooooohhhhhh do it!"; Page's best slide guitar work, arguably his best solo work; Bonham throw all subtleness into the wind, the loudest, hardest hitting Bonzo ever would be in the studio.

1. Rock and Roll
2. Ramble On
3. The Song Remains the Same

If Zep. comes out WITHOUT Stairway to Heaven I'd be really, really surprised

Yes, if Rock Band didn't use a song that doesn't have a single drum beat or bass note for four straight minutes, I would be very surprised.

Stairway to Heaven is a great song, but it would be awful for Rock Band.

i frankly dont want a zeppelin pack

Apparently, from your sig you are a fan of punk, which I am not. I don't go to the punk threads and say I don't want to see a punk pack do I? If you don't want one, don't download it.

Anyways, I'd buy every last by Led Zeppelin if I could. Every single one, even if each was $10.

Any and all zep would be Awesome, but I'd love to see the obvious songs: Rock N Roll, Black Dog, Whole Lot A Love, Song Remains the Same... but some of my other favorites to play are: The Ocean, Good Time bad Times and Poor Tom. Oh and Bonzo's Montreux (not exactly fun for any but me, the drummer.)

You're "New Crap" (which quite frankly, 90% of it is garbage, but I do love a lot of new stuff) owes a lot to the "Old Crap" which includes: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Charlie Parker, Loius Armstrong, John Coltrane, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presely....Need I go on?

well lets see here. There are so many songs to choose from. but the best songs that would lend themselves to rock band are:
Led Zeppelin Pack 1
Kashmir (overall great rock band song, but guitar could get boring)
Ramble On (great bass song)
Rock And Roll (great drum intro)

Led Zeppelin 2In My Time of Dying
Immigrant Song (the intro vocals make this a must for rock band)
When the Levee Breaks (powerful bass and drums)
The Ocean (a solo vocal part, with a guitar solo)

I know many people would want Moby Dick but the problem with that song is that there arent any vocals. Stairway might appear on the DLC because of its greatness but there is no drummer until halfway through the song. Any Led Zeppelin song that came out, I would buy, but some lend themselves better than others.

i want Black Dog

Edward Hyena

My problem is I cannot bring the number down below 4 :

Stairway to Heaven (that's a duh)
The Song Remains the Same (Love this song. Never a dull moment in here and it involves everybody well)
Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You (I'll admit, I just want to sing this. SOOO badly)
Four Sticks (Another good song that involves everyone and stays busy throughout).

Led Zeppelin songs I would rather not play :
Kashmir (Freakin' classic song, but 8 and a half minutes? I'd get bored if I were an instrument there)
Since I've Been Loving You (I LOVE this song, but it's very slow and mellow. I don't feel it'd be a good fit in the game)
The Song Remains the Same (Can you imagine how hard this would be?!?!)

Yes, I am aware that Song Remains the Same is in there twice. I would buy it, try it, say, "What the hell? I can't do that!" and then go on easy mode for it. :)
