If Activision doesn't want to play fair, imgagine this:
Harmonix/MTV rolls up a big Rock Band truck in front of Activision Corporate loaded with Rock Band Guitars and a giant dumpster. Anyone who smashes a Guitar Hero guitar and throws it in the dumptser will be given a Rock Band Strat to replace it.
If enough people participated the act alone would send a huge message to Activision especially if they plan on making any money off DLC or future Guitar Hero games. It may even force them to reconsider allowing other controllers for their games if they suddenly find that there are more Rock Band guitars floating around than GH ones.
And of course while this is going on its being filmed and winds up plastered all over youtube and the internet gaming sites that day. Shortly afterwards they launch the print and TV ad campaign wanting to know why hundreds of gamers are smashing their plastic guitars.
