... but, as a proponent of almost all things classic rock and r&b, I've been racking my brain trying to think of a group from a genre close to my heart, Funk, that would fit the four instrument format of this game. So much Funk, though, is dominated by horns, to a degree that much of the best known tracks would be intensely repetitive for the guitarist. The majority of songs by, say, the Ohio Players, might be better suited to an all new game with different mechanics.
Still, there is one band in that genre that (at least I think) would add a lot to a game like Rock Band. The Isley Brothers, with the seriously supercharged guitar work of Ernie Isley, would be right at home in this game with a song or two made available for download. "Summer Breeze" and "Who's That Lady?" are the two big name tracks that come to my mind. These songs have guitar solos some rock bands would be jealous of, and would also be entertaining for drums and bass. I could see the vocal part suffering from "GGaHT" syndrome, though.
