I just received my replacement for my replacement. My first one was scraped up really bad and had a spot where a hot glue gun melted the plastic on the side. I know it was a hot glue gun because there was glue on the spot and there was a rod shaped indention where the plastic melted. Anyway, the first replacement was unacceptable.

The guitar I received today is new. No signs of use. Looks just as good as my original guitar that came with the bundle. Also there are no green stickers on the back. On my last replacement there were 3 green stickers on the back. I never bothered even plugging up my last one or opening it up to see if it had the new strummer. I knew I wasn't keeping it anyway. After looking over the outside and being very pleased, I opened it up to see what strummer it had. I was worried I was about to see an old strummer with the contacts since there were no stickers on the back. But much to my surprise, I have the new strummer with the magnets. It actually looks like this guitar was designed for the new strummer. Unlike some pics I've seen where it looks like the contacts were taken out of the guitar and replaced with the magnet design. All of my buttons feel right, toggle switch is good. Nothing is loose.

The fret buttons aren't loud to me. They sound the same as my first guitar. I put them side by side and hit the buttons and they sound very close to the same. So far so good....Phase 3 of testing...I played Creep on expert, then Blackened and Ride the Lightning. I made sure to use a lot of alternate picking throughout the songs. No problems at all. I went into the songs menu and started picking up and down for half a minute. It stayed on the same two songs the whole time. All other buttons work, whammy bar is nice and tight and works, toggle switch is good. I've overjoyed with this replacement.

It is basically like they made everything the same as my original guitar, but with a better strummer. This is exactly what I expected the last time. So for anyone going through replacement hell. Don't give up. Just keep sending them back at their expense until you get one like I just got.

My second replacement seems to be flawless too.

Well, the fret buttons are a little clicky, but nowhere near as loud as my first replacement. But nowhere near as quiet as my first guitar.

But the strum works fine, so I'll take it.

Yeah, my fret buttons might make more of a clicky sound than my first one but the overall sound of hitting the button seems the same to me. Could be my ears lol. All I know is it isn't as loud as my first replacement and it doesn't bother me at all.

I just got my 1st replacement, and it works great. I haven't opened it up to determine what kind it is, but it plays great and that's really what matters. Mine does have the 3 green stickers. does that means its refurbished? I'll just keep playing until it breaks, but so far it's working great, and i play it with a pick and it works as a real guitar would with the down/up strumming.

If you just got it, chances are it's the newer design with the magnets and sensors. You should open it up sometime. It's fun lol. I like inspecting the inside to make sure it all looks good. Just make sure you press down hard when unscrewing the screws so they don't strip. I don't know exactly what the stickers mean. I assume that means it's refirbished, but if there is no physical damage like scrapes or scratches I wouldn't worry about that. I was only *****ing about it before because my replacement was scraped up and felt like it was falling apart. I'm pretty sure this one is new. It just seems like it is. But if it is refirbished, I don't care. As long as it's not obvious I'm cool with it. Glad to hear people are starting to get good guitars.

I've played a few more songs since my first post. This guitar even feels better than my original one that came in the bundle. I guess it's because the new strummer isn't pushing anything. It just feels really smooth. Using magnets is genius.

Just got my first replacement guitar. Has the three green stickers on the back. Downstrum is fine but upstrum doesn't work right and Overdrive activation is iffy. Will try again!

Well that is great to hear!

I guess I will keep trying.

Question for you guys: how long is it taking for EA to acknowledge the receipt of you guitars?

Not long. Within 24 hours of dropping the package off at a UPS center. They are able to tell when it is coming back to them and they know what the weight should be. At that point they take the holding charge off. Of course if they find a reason to charge you, they can always do that once they actually receive the guitar but that isn't likely.

Has anyone taken a picture of the inside of a guitar with the magnet strum bars? I've only seen pictures with the contacts.

Question, when you had them send you the replacement, did they just send the guitar or a whole new set?

By any chance could you guys with the magnetic strummers write down the part number? I've heard of different types of strummers, the standard ones with contacts, magnetic ones, and spring loaded ones. It be great to compile a list of part numbers to see how many models are actually out there and etc.

I just got my first replacement yesterday. (just got rockband on 12-1 for PS3) Opened it up and the strum bar looks the same as the previous model. 1st guitar downstrum quit working after about 2 hours of use.

Downstrum was spotty at best after 1 hr of use on the replacement guitar. So it was pretty impossible to play.

I may take the whole thing back to Walmart for a refund. I didn't buy Rockband to practice shipping stuff via UPS. :D
