I was wondering if you guys have encountered bands who use an electronic drum kit instead of an acoustic one. Can the electronic drum kits be charted?

Yes. See RB songs by Freezepop.
You can do the same thing with RBN.

Trent uses a drum machine in studio and they have acoustic drums when playing live, there are no electronic drums involved.

John Drake!
And we already have hip hopster Alias Unknown, which is admittedly a stretch in the conventional style of Rock Band tracks.

Wouldn't it be easier since you have raw data of each note?
Ex. On my cheap drum brain, after creating a pattern, you can erase a midi note such as a accidently hit tom.

You have that on a real drum track too. It's quite easy to open up a recorded drum track in a DAW (like Reaper) and edit out unwanted noise/hits.
