Imagine how I felt when the Red Wings lost to the Penguins. I don't care if the Penguins won, the Wings are still a better team now. Although next year it will be debatable... no Hossa, Samuelsson, Conklin, etc.

1- Chicago Blackhawks. My hometown *****s.
2- Washington Capitals. My dad works in DC (and I now live in SE VA) and his office has season tickets, so I end up going to about five games each season. I didn't care either way for them at first, but they've grown on me.
3- Philadelphia Flyers. I wasn't (and still am not, really) a big fan, but my girlfriend lives in Philly so I'm sure I'll go to a game or two this season. Gotta get the broad interested in hockey, after all.

But I also have a profound love for the Colorado Avalanche.

Pittsburgh Penguins circa 1990. Was always a big Steeler fan, who family is from all around Pittsburgh. Became fascinated with hockey when flipping through the channels I saw the Pens had a white towel people were waving called a Tuxedo Towel, similar of course to the Terrible Towel, and thus I was hooked. Enjoyed some great years, got to see some amazing players in Lemieux, Jagr, Stevens, etc etc, and now getting to see some new ones. Go Pens!
(in the darker years though I had to find teams to root for in the playoffs since I will watch hockey from Sept-June so here are a few teams I have soft spots for.
Ducks, Oilers, Flames, Blackhawks. (notice no other East teams)
oh, and for the love of god....BRING BACK THE WHALERS!!!!!!!!!

Being a Pens fan I like hearing about him, but they promote him too much, theres tons of youthful talent in the league who should also be marketed. I feel bad for Sid cuz ppl are hating on him for always being in the spotlight, when from what I can tell about his personality he'd be happy if noone paid attention to him and he just played hockey.

With all the Sidney Crosby talk here, and him bringing the cup home, I guess I'm slowly switching sides.
That being said, I follow the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) at lot closer because we actually have a team here.
With a team name like the Moosehead's, you can't not follow them!
Funny eh? You spend a lot of your childhood in a village called Mooseland, and your hockey team is the Moosehead's

well, id say 90% of senators fans are reformed habs/leafs fans. there was a point when ottawa didnt have a team. no sens fans were sens fans when there was no senators. thats why i laugh at sens fns who hate the habs/leafs so much cause chances are they once cheered for them.

I find that there is a pretty clear divide in Ottawa (Mostly, there are still quite a few crossers of the line, but I've found the following true in all of my interactions)
You have the Old Guard: Those who still chear for Toronto/Montreal. These are the people who have been watching Hockey since before Ottawa had a team, or came in from other markets (i.e. those who moved from said cities). Generally, these are older people or those who have been watching hockey since they were quite young.
Then you have the New Guard: The younger fans who have had a team to cheer for since they've been watching hockey, the few older fans who switched allegiances once Ottawa was formed, or people who came into Ottawa from other markets where there wasn't a hometown team, or came from far enough way that they can safely be a fan of two teams (Me!).
I'd say the split is 50/50 right now, but will continue to favour towards the New Guard as more and more budding hockey fans root for their home team.

im jsut a fan of hockey. i dont really care whos playing. obivously i prefer to watch certain teams, but if theres a game on, regrdless of whos playing, ill watch. first and foremost im a leafs fan, but beyond that, theres a tonne of players i like to watch so its players i follow moreso than teams outside of the leafs. i can honestly say there arent too many players on the leafs that i actually like.

I hated Tucker with a passion, he was one of the dirtiest players I have ever seen in this sport, and he always gave off the air of a bad sport. Same goes for Domi.

Anton Volchenkov = Best Grinder in Hockey right now.
That guy will take a hit anywhere to stop the puck, and then get up and keep playing without blinking an eye! Hell, he's even blocked pucks with his hands when he's had broken fingers!
As to your point about Neil, yes he is a dirty player too... at least he used to be. He's been improving an awful lot over the past year and a half or so. He's also been doing a lot less dirty stuff.
I will definitely agree with you about Pronger, I don't know why that guy is so popular, he's one of the worst out there in the league right now.

Nah, that's gotta be Karlis Skrastins. He's finally caved to injuries a bit in the last few years, but he played in 80 games last season and had played 495 straight through mid-2007 (NHL record for a defenseman). He blocks shots, clogs passing lanes, and goes hard to the wall. He's not the most skilled player, but he's fearless and gives up his body for the game (yet is durable enough to keep it going).
