Rhythm Authors and the like will be charting songs themselves, but how will songs by lip-synced? I assumed they just mo-capped someone's mouth singing the song for normal RBDLC, but for RBN songs, how will it work?

from the way it looks lips are charted similar to guitar strums or drumming (in existing songs already) not specifically re-captured for each song.

I think the issue will be how well can someone pull off any of the animation syncing compared to the current product, though...

There was a link to the charting FAQ, and one of the thing's mentioned was a "lip-synching engine" or something of that nature. According for the FAQ you need a raw vocal track (no effects) and the engine does the rest.

I'd rather do it manuallly by putting sensors on my face. It'll bring out more emotion that way.

Did anyone back this up on a different site? I'd love to read the Drum Authoring guide again.

Somebody MAY have, but the legality of such a site would be in question.

the creator tools seem like they will be really awesome. It makes me wish I was in a band so I could work with these tools.

You could be a one-man band if you wanted to. ;)

If you're good enough with the animation gear, you could potentially set up a "voxtarist" of sort by animating the vocalist out and having the guitarist singing as though it were "backups".

If I'm not mistaken, the backup singers have to follow an animation done by the singer. For example, on Undone (The Sweater Song), you can see the rest of the band doing the backup vocals that match up with the phrases done by the main vocalist, but when the backup vocals are something other than what Rivers is singing, the other band members don't move their mouths at all.

The lip-syncing is done procedurally by the Magma software. Put in your Vocals track and the software does the rest. It actually looks pretty good!

I could be, but who would want to listen to a solo drummer (who is not a songwriter, for that matter) with a poor singing voice, let alone pay for it?:)

I'd definitely would love to see a video of how magma works with lip syncing.

I still dont see why we don't have any behind the scenes videos like we had with the first GH games. I would love to see how stuff is charted

Yeah, there's no "backup singers" per se in animation. Just seems to be a single "sing" command that can make the whole band sing along; but the cameras will focus in on the "backup singer" or "duet singer" instead of the lead vocalist to make it LOOK like there's more than one vocalist. (But there isn't. Not until TBRB comes out.)

I'd love to see a video of how magma works in general.
