View Full Version : What's worse: Clicky frets or a looser strumbar?

I have two guitars...one must go back to EA...
Guitar #1: Clicky fret bars but "stiffer" strumbar
Guitar #2: Quieter fret bars (not quiet however) but "looser" strumbar
I hate the clicky frets but I do like the stiffer feel to the strumbar of #1...
I tried playing each guitar five times each to the same song but of course my score and % notes correct were about the same :)...
Both have the magnet sensors so that's a wash...
I can strum both fast on the menu and the menu highlight stays where it should...
Basically I have two pretty good guitars (which I know is more than some of you can say)...I do tend to over-analyze things if you can't tell by now :) So basically what I'm curious from you guys is:
Do the frets get quieter over time?
Does the strumbar get looser over time?
Which would you keep?

Swap out the necks...

Send them both back, and hope the 3rd one is the best of both worlds.
My replacement guitar has clicky frets, and it gets kind of annoying. It's great that the strum bar works well, but I get distracted by the noise created during fast parts of songs, with different notes.

I think everyone should send back any guitar that is not perfect. These problems should have been worked out long before that game went on sale.

My 12yo son just dropped the guitar approx 2 feet on the ground while adjusting the strap. Now the down strum doesn't work at all.
Junk in a box, that's what Rock Band should really be called.

Probably the more unpopular opinion, but I find clicky frets worse.
My first guitar, the one out of the S.E. box, had silent frets. I didn't realize how great they were until that guitar inevitably broke and my first replacement arrived. The fret buttons were LOUD. They sounded like a retractable pen every time I touched a fret button. I hated it.
Luckily (?) that guitar had a faulty upstrum so I sent it back. My second replacement's strum seems to work fine, and the fret buttons are quieter than the previous one, but still a little louder than my first.
Silent fret buttons + Dependable strum = the guitar that should have gone out in the first place.

The thing is, clicky frets don't keep you from playing the game. A bad strum bar does.
