Rock Band Finally Hits Canada December 20
by Chris Faylor Dec 12, 2007 4:37pm CST
The Canadian version of Rock Band (PS2, PS3, X360) will ship to retailers on December 20, developer Harmonix has confirmed to Shacknews.
Though the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Rock Band arrived in the United States in mid-November, the Canadian editions were formally delayed just eight days before release. At the time, Harmonix owner MTV Games told Shacknews the game had been pushed back until December 17, just one day before the PlayStation 2 edition is slated to launch.
Earlier this week, retailer listings indicated copies of the game would not start shipping until December 28, causing some to believe that the Canadian version of the game had once again been delayed.

If this is true what are we going to do about the lack of threads complaining about the canadian release dates being pushed back? How am I going to pass the time?

Actually Dec 20th is a delay of 3 days as the previous shipping date was Dec 17th. And *shipping* is the critical word here.
I don't know any store that would be taking shipments on the 24th or the 26th and they're not taking them on the 25th. I dunno I think a number of stores will not have them in stock prior to Christmas.. just way too close. If they literally don't send anything out the door till the 20th, it won't be in the country until the 22nd at the absolute earliest (assuming they overnight courier it all out.. which I don't think they'll be doing considering the size of the boxes). For the most part, with an EB, it's going to fall like this...
20th - Shipment leaves HMX/EA/Whatever warehouse
21st - Customs
22nd - Shipment on delivery to big box regional warehouses
23rd - Shipment sent out to stores
Some might get it on the 23rd, others the 24th. This.. in the middle of probably the biggest courier/mail/package transport season of the year. Oh and of course I just noticed the 22nd and 23rd are a Saturday and Sunday.
The 28th, with the weekend and holidays and such is probably pretty accurate on-shelf date. *sigh*
Anyhow I hope they do make it in time though, besides so you all can get it for Christmas, but becaue I gave my neighbour my pre-order for his son and I don't really wanna sell him my 2nd US bundle in case I have some sort of catastrophic equipment failure over the holidays. :)

Seriously though, the jokes on me. I dropped close to $400 to get it in November, only to get a drum kit doa. Funnier still, I was so impatient that I dropped another $400 to get another.
Let's play funny, not funny.

This is definitely a possibility... though the wording could be interpreted as retailers receiving them on the 20th. It says Rock Band "ship[s] to retailers on December 20th", not ships from warehouse... which could mean that the December 17th ship date still holds, and the three days transit lands us on December 20th.
At the end of the day, we just have to wait and see, since EA/Harmonix/MTV has been BRUTAL about getting any kind of information out, and we're stuck relying on heresay "official" statements that could mean a number of things.

I'm paying $169.99 from EB, so that's not too bad.
We still get gouged with the DLC.

And this is where my second amazing news story comes in http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/12/13/playstation-network-cards-coming-to-the-us/
That's right folks, just create an american account, buy one of these cards on ebay or whatever and presto no more getting ripped off on DLC.

Let's get specific here. If Rock Band came out in Canada November 20th and it came out December 20th or even later in US, there would be a MASSIVE uproar. I never understood the logic behind "Why do you Canadians whine so much?, as though we are like this by the nature of our nationality. Wake up, we're not all that different. Human react the same way, especially when they are right beside each other.

yes but you see, we complain at the fact that this game was suppose to come out Nov. 20th in North America.... last time I checked Canada is in North America..... yep still is too... and that my friend is why we were complaining so much... Japan is all the way the boonies over there...so ya

I've always been civil on these boards but **** you. Seriously get off your high horse and stop making generalizations. There had better not be a next time where a game is delayed a week before it comes out for lame "packaging issues".
Don't even make comparisons to games released in Japan as that argument has no relevance in this conversation.
I could talk about patience and make generalizations too but I don't need to try and make myself feel better
Rock_Starman
12-13-2007, 02:12 PM
Well if the game was in Japanese and there was a massive ocean between Canada and the US then that comparison might be good. But it's in english and part of the same land mass.
DaMan12
12-13-2007, 11:48 PM
I think most Americans are too stupid to know where Canada is on a map so when they see us complaining they draw comparisons to japan and europe. When we are in fact and the same video game region as them so we should be treated the same.

DaMan12: That's quite the ignorant thing to say. I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, and if so I retract my statement. Speaking in terms of generalizations, you just hit the mother load.

How about if Canada got it before the US? Hmmmm I wonder if the center-of-the-universe American ego couldn't handle that..... or if it would be ok for Americans to ***** and complain then.... hmmmmmmmmm................
