Head Piece on the Strat

I'm going to have to send in my RB guitar because the strum bar quit on me last night. Do we have to remove the head piece?

Anyone know how to do it? My piece is pretty snug and won't come out with moderate force. Is there a trick I should be using?

You don't have to remove the head piece when you get the box to send it back in it has very good instructions on what to do.
