Despite being a huge metalhead, I stongly dislike both bands (spare 1-2 CC tunes, Hammer Smashed Face not being one of them). But each man to his own I guess.

really I'm not a huge death metal fan (i'm not sure why I like every other kind of metal) but I like cannibal corpse. I don't really know much songs by the black dahlia murder but I really liked what a horrible noght to have a curse and one other song by them.

Heh, I remember once not so long ago when you were talking about how awesome Cannibal Corpse is. I guess everyone comes around eventually...

Well, I think their sound is pretty good, but their lyrics, album covers, and song titles are too much for me to get past now. I said that like 3 months ago before I knew of the worst of them.:o

Cannibal Corpse has some very lulzy song names, but the title of the band with the funniest names will always belong to Anal C*nt. They have a song making fun of people who live on houseboats, for crying out loud.

1. It's Cannibal Corpse
2. This belongs in the Album Reviews section
3. Get Tomb of the Mutilated if you really liked Hammer Smashed Face, or pick up Deadly Tracks, which is their Best Of album.

If anything, this thread would've been better served as a post in the "come here for music recommendations" thread. That's where pretty much all requests for music recommendations should go.

I was a pretty big C.C. fan when I use younger. I still listen to them for nostalgia purposes, but I was drawn in initially by their album covers and song lyrics. Enough about me, great albums by Cannibal Corpse: Butchered at Birth, Tomb of the Mutilated, and The Bleeding.

Sorry, I've seen people ask for recommendations on there in the past, just thought that was where this stuff was supposed to go.:o

If you're going to look into more than Tomb of the Mutilated, look at what back_blows has to say, you'll probably enjoy Chris Barnes era CC a bit more than newer stuff if you liked Hammer Smashed Face.

They have 11 full length CDs, and a live CD that's worth checking out.

I saw them live at Mayhemfest this year, they're pretty great live, I don't particularly like George Fisher too much as far as the albums go, but he sounds great live.

I don't know if I would ever by a live cd though if I wanted to listen to a band live I would go see them.

i'm not much of a fan, but i've heard all of their full-lengths... i think "the bleeding" is the best place to start, though "tomb of the mutilated" would be alright as well...

the newer albums actually aren't as bad as many think, so you may also have better luck with those due to production values.

just keep an ear peeled for more death metal, since CC really is a pretty cookie-cutter band... over time, you'll probably hunger for something else.

Listen to the preview for Hammer Smashed Face in the Music Store. Is it just me or does it sound like the singer is trying to cough up a huge loogie? Makes me laugh hysterically every time I hear it.

Agreed. Cannibal Corpse is a great gateway band to Death Metal. I suppose the same could be said about Dimmu Borgir and Black Metal, despite how awful I think they are.
