We need to scrap all the music in this game from the 90's and above...
I want Classic Rock and 80's music!!! If we would get rid of junk like Fall Out Boy, we could make room for timeless Classics like: The Doors, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, AC DC.
I know they have a couple of rolling stones songs but they need more than one.. Get rid of the stupid screamo/emo songs and stick with true rock, All those pansy white boys standing on stage screaming about how crummy their lives are isn't Rock...it just sucks...They don't even know what true Rock is..

If you don't think they are working on trying to get that stuff licensed, you are dumb.
If you think they can sell this game to all the kids in enough amounts to be successful, while only including 60s, 70s, and 80s, music, you are even more dumb.
So are you dumb or dumber?

The Who and The Stones are for me to rock out on.
Also Radiohead is for me.

I grew up with 90's rock. Though I usually appreciate the act of "rocking out" moreso with more classic songs, I would have been extrememly dissapointed without that era of music in the game. Its the stuff I know how to sing along with. (I didn't grow up listening to classic rock)
then the next person in this thread can come in and say somoething completely different..thats the reason they needed variety in the game. gotta have something everyone.

I wouldn't object to more classic rock, but there's nothing wrong with the 90s and 00s songs on here.
Unless you hate music.

I might be showing my age, but I grew up listening to The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and The Who before they were termed "Classic Rock". That said, I still appreciate the variety. While I don't care for some of the newer tunes in RB (Fall Out Boy in particular), I can really dig others (like Bang Camaro).
On a side note, I'd really like to see some Janis Joplin as DLC too!

what they need is Blue Oyster Cult "Burning for you" bass player's paradise that one.
Yeah but the "Classic rock is the only rock" is such a dinosaur mentality. Punk Pop is older then this kid that is telling us to only play songs from times before he was born. Man punk pop is rooted in the 70's with bands like cheap trick (who themselves are rooted in the best band ever The Who). It all goes back to classic rock. it's roots, but the tree has many branches my friend.

This is ammo for the obnoxious emo punk pop fans to droll on about how all classic rock fans are supposedly like this.
I enjoyed most of the music in the game. Even most of the 90s and 0000s stuff. 90s was good. I mean there's crap like Garbage, Fall Out Boy, Or the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, but there is also good stuff.

That's your opinion. I'm sure there are people out there who hate the classic songs and just want more current music. Personally I like both and love the variety in this game. Something for everyone, you know?
So if you want more classic rock, that's cool. You don't need to hate on current music to make your daddy proud.

Sorry but I have to agree. Today's music just doesn't seem to be standing up to the classics. I mean come on... FALLOUT BOY?! For the love of god there is there no other 2000's band they could have picked? Fall Out Boy? I gotta say I enjoyed the the Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Bang Camero much more... at least they try to capture the spirit of the classics but damn! FALL OUT BOY?!?!?!?!

I would have to agree that variety is everything. It makes sense from a buisness stand point as well. Why sell only one genre or time period of music when you can sell everything and make money.
I personally like all the songs on Rock Band. I would actually like to see more heavy stuff on there as well as some classics and newer stuff.
Anyways, eventually i am sure we all will get what we want for music on Rock Band sooner or later.

I dont agree. Fall Out Boy is actually really talented (well the singer/guitarist really is). I heard he really makes the band and thinks up of almost everything. Their new album Infinity On High is actually really good. I was impressed because i was expecting something like Under the Cork Tree but they really stepped it up. The songs are well written and has some catchy hooks plus the singer has a really talented voice.
Then again, if it came down to adding some more Iron Maiden or Fall Out Boy i would probably say forget Fall Out Boy. :p

That's exactly the point though! Maybe lets say Fall Out Boy isn't the worst band out there but they're definitely not the best either. If Harmonix focuses on Fall Out Boy that's just taking time, money, and probably chances from a better band to get the DLC spot...
DirrtyBird
12-13-2007, 06:32 PM
Very true, but we may never know what kinda stuff they are thinking of for future un-named DLC.
I wouldnt mind having more Fall Out Boy but i would like to see more classics and more harder newer stuff like Protest the Hero or Saosin (older Saosin with Anthony Green).

You make it seem like for every one band they put in the game, another one or more gets cut out completely and will never make it in. They're going to be doing DLC for this game for months, if not years, to come and I'm sure they will cater to everyone's taste at some point or another.
Patience is key here people, I want classic rock as much as the next guy, but there is no need to just thrash music just because it's not to your taste. Nobody gains anything from that.

I agree that the game needs more classics. Zeppelin especially. But I base this on how much fun the song would be to play. Zeppelin would be challenging for the singer and the guitarist both. And I never really thought about putting The Doors into the game until now, and I realized that would be a good idea, because that would be untold amounts of fun for the vocalist. But I also think some of the new songs they put in the game are fun as well, for example Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, and and Foo Fighters were all really fun to play. I understand that the creators have to cater to everybody's tastes, but they should also do the smart choices. Force a player to play a Zeppelin song and they're going to love it, even if they thought Fall Out Boy was the best band on the game. And I do understand that they've probably tried very hard to get Zeppelin on there, but the point remains for bands like The Doors. It's great for marketing to have a popular song on it, but for the hardcore players, and there are more of us than you'd think, it would be great to have something even more challenging. And don't tell me to go play guitar and sing at the same time, because I found even that pretty easy.

i assume it's cheaper to make DLC then to make a new game, and therefore supporting this game for years to come with fresh DLC would be the preffered method. that said the wider amount of content out there the more chances for a return. some people are going to buy every DLC that comes out some people are going to only buy the stuff they want, but if all the DLC is classic rock and one doesn't like classic rock, they lose that sale. If they were to refuse variety they would leave it entirely. bring in another company who programs for the drum trigger, guitars and singing, and bam.... if they are willing to cater to everyone or even just the people that RB is neglecting they will get the money and harmonix/ea does not want that.

Newer music is ok, as long as it stays with the classic rock style of music.
Creed, Staind, and Nickelback would be good examples.
I long for the great songs of the 70's and 80s too though.
Enough of the whiney repetitive guitar riff songs already!

I kind of agree with you, but your views are much more extreme than mind. That's ok, but these Fall Out Boy fans would just love cannon fodder to go after the classic rock fans. Tone it down abit. You are saying all modern music is bad, but from what I gather you hate the 2000s style pop punk, or emo, or whatever you can call it without some obnoxious hardcore punk fan going off on a tirade about "true" emo.
The 90s stuff isn't bad at all. There are many great alternative bands out there in the 2000s (for me I only like Muse, and the Kaiser Chiefs though). Check them out. You would have much more support if you only went after the true enemy: Emo, modern Pop Punk, and Nu Metal fans. With this, you are making enemies of modern Alternative fans and 90s alternative fans who share a similar sentiment with you about emo and Nu Metal.
Oh and whatever they say, you are much better than the people who hate classic rock and only want Emo and Nu metal. There is a clear intelligence difference. There are a few people who are politely discussing, but this is mostly a topic filled with morons censor cursing and slandering you.
You clarify your opinion about good modern music in this post, but it's quite late. The morons won't come off you now.

Personally i just laugh at this music because no one even knows what they are listening too most kids 10-15 will call this music punk rock..i really think thats quite hilarious because people today have no idea what the punk movement was about you can't call fall out boy punk rock without totally degrading punk legends like the sex pistols, Clash and Ramones..
If you can't even name the genre of music you listen to how can you defend it? I'm into all kinds of music as well, early punk, Classic Rock, Early metal, but this music doesn't deserve a place in rock band is all i'm saying unless its actually decent rock.. First of all, Zeppelin, you e-thug, I am 18 and I haven't been pampered my whole life. My mom worked 2 jobs and went to college when I was younger because my dad passed when I was 7. I know what it means to have to work for what you have and how to appreciate the things you get. Yes, I like fall out boy. I like Taking Back Sunday, Linkin Park, all those bands you hate. Guess what, I like led zeppelin, ac/dc, hendrix, all the bands you like too. Music is music, we all share the same thing, the LOVE OF MUSIC! Just because You don't like the music doesn't make it "bad". I don't like gospel music, guess what, some people do. So unclench your butt cheeks and let your frustration go. This is a game to appeal to many age groups NOT ONLY to the older rockers, but the new ones too. cause you were tryin to cut down modern music
der. you defend someones likings you make people wanna protect it, its a human reaction
These people don't hate all modern music, they hate crappy Emo/Modern Pop Punk, and Nu Metal. This music is inferior lyrically and musically.
I consider Fall Out Boy to be great capitalists though.
Music has been degrading. You can't deny it. Even beyond the scope of rock, every popular genre has taken a hit in quality.
The 90s stuff was good though. I used to be angry at the fact that there was so much 90s, but I enjoyed many of the 90s songs. After Grunge died, there was no genre to take on the rock movement. As a result, people moved on. It wasn't around long enough to make many people less shallow about music. Now crappy rock, crappy pop, and crappy rap have filled the space, with a few decent-good bands here and there that are enjoying mild popularity.
The longer this crap persists, the less chance there is for music to become good again. Each generation music will get worse and worse. Unless there is another music revolution similar to the 60s to last us another 30-40 years, we will never see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Zeppelin why do you hate modern music
do you just want bands to stop making music cause all the "good" songs have already been written and therefore we should give up on music..that makes sense
No i want musicians these days to take a lesson or two from the older predecessors of rock and follow their example.
First off musicians need to make their own music, most of which modern singers do not do...
Secondly they need to promote themselves by their music not by their image... Rock is all about the music not doing bill boards...and walking the red carpet..If your music is goode it can promote itself! Led Zeppelin proved this by printing a record without using a name on the cover so no one would know it was them.. And they sold loads of copy just by the music!
Its mostly just the principle of the music, don't get me wrong my friends listen to screamo and i went to one of the shows it wasn't all that bad i like the crowd atmosphere mostly..Its still pretty fun but i don't like the taste of the music and i definitely don't like the principle of the bands..
I feel like they are only in it for the publicity, to be in the lime light and to make money..very little of it is for the sole purpose of the music like soo many great rock bands before them..

No, and you know why? Because of know it all ignorant people like the OP. Telling me the music I like is sh1t. That I am a spoiled brat of a little boy that doesn't know the meaning of work, then tells me to not talk if I don't have anything intelligent to say.
Rock is rock, whether it be classics, metal, pop, punk, emo, screamo, whatever it may be, it's still rock and there are still people here who enjoy listening to it.
Must you take what i say so literally to your own life? I was talking about that otehr kid because of the way he was talking to me, i also said most of the generation is given everything, when i say most i don't mean all, and it is true that most of the generation is given everything!!

I doubt a 15 year old knows what it was like to live in the 70's...unless him and Disney were sharing a cryo cell.

Hey im 13 so i shouldn't have a say in this, but I like Fall Out Boy (for the most part, Dance Dance was annoying) but all the other emo stuff should never be on rock band.
We do need Hendrix, Clapton, and more Rolling Stones ASAP. Gimme Shelter IS an awesome song, though.

You know, after reading a bunch of threads like this one, bashing new music, I've come to a conclusion. I'm pretty sure something like 98% of people who say all modern music sucks, are only listening to what comes on the radio or shows up on MTV.
There are TONS of bands out there, making music in the here and now, that write great songs. Hell, some of them even have similar sounds to those old bands that Zeppelin likes so much. It seems like most "classic rock elitists" are just too lazy to go looking for new music. Even with this glorious thing called the internet, which makes it so easy to find new music, these people hear one Fall Out Boy song on the radio, dislike it, and decide all new music must be exactly the same and therefore suck. And they never bother to actually look for new music they do like. It's just mixture of laziness and stubbornness if you ask me.
Oh, and that's all opinion, ya know, before I get flamed for making it sound like a fact or something.

There's lots of awesome 90s music that classic rock heads like. Try Pavement, Sponge, Better than Ezra, the Toadies, and the Wallflowers.
Its Bob Dylan's son... you can't not like the Wallflowers.
