View Full Version : Strange Mic Issue (PS3)

I did a search, but I didn't see anyone with a similar problem. My mic typically works just fine, but after a number of songs (sometimes 1-2, sometimes 20+), the pitch indicator goes nuts. It's like it's trying to register two pitches -- one which is correct and one which is about a note lower -- and it alternates rapidly between the two pitches. It began doing this about a week after I started playing.
At first, I thought that it was picking up noise from the TV, but after moving further away and adjusting the mic sensitivity, this is not the issue. Sometimes it will fix itself on the next song, and sometimes it requires a full system reset. Quitting the game has seen limited success, which I've been attributing to it simply fixing itself on its own sometimes.
So, is this is hardware or software issue? Should I go ahead and take the warranty service on the mic since I need to return my guitar anyway (downward double-strum, no up-strum)?
Thanks,

My ps3 mic did the same, plugged in the spare one and it worked fine, probably defective, PM to follow.

I have experienced the same problem. The first few times it just went away when I would start a different song so I sort of ignored it. Then it started happening again and I noticed it was after parts in the songs where you tap the mic. Not sure if that is what's causing it....just a suspicion. It does make me worry now every time I have to do that! I finally switched to a spare "third party" mic and haven't had any problems for about a week.
I wasn't sure what to do since I didn't find anyone mentioning the same thing...but now I will definitely send it back defective. I know it's not a personal pitch problem because I just finished the Hard vocal solo tour and have moved on to Expert. I don't think I could have made it this far if I was that off pitch.
Now if there were only a fix for the vocal lag, I would be happy!

ya, I think it's the mic, i'm fitting to have mine replaced soon, along with my bass pedal.
