View Full Version : How Will They Split the Medley

I know we have confirmation that the medley will run together like on the album but exact details are still hazy. There are a number of ways this could be done:
You Never Give Me Your Money/Sun King/Mean Mr. Mustard/Polythene Pam/She Came in Through the Bathroom Window/Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End/Her Majesty
--this would be the most epic version running the entire gamut of what many consider THE medley as a single track. However, the only connective tissue between You Never Give Me Your Money an Sun King is some chimes and crickets. It could easily be included as a separate song as well as Her Majesty (though it's a little short to stand on its own). Also there is the distinct pause in the medley that could break it up. So te opposite extreme to above could be:
-You Never Give Me Your Money (separate)
-Sun King/Mean Mr. Mustard/Polythene Pam/She Came in Through the Bathroom Window (medley)
-Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End (medley)
-Her Majsty (separate)
There are several combinations between these two extremes by adding or taking away YNGMYM or Her Majesty.
Personally I'd like to see it all as ONE but I don't know if HMX will do it that way.

I would like to see it all as one, but I could understand the viewpoint of some that might like to break it up at certain spots. Since HMX was quoted as saying "The side 2 Abbey Road medley will be playable as one track", I think that means it will be the whole darn thing, and not portions of it.
My main question is, will the tracks also be playable individually? I will definitely want to play them together nearly all the time, but if there was some strange reason/craving/whatever to select Bathroom Window (which would work by itself), would it be possible?

Even if the medley is broken up, I think you won't see every single track individually ... some are just too small. TheCulprit's breakdown is probably correct or close to it.

As cool as that would be, I tend to doubt separate tracks will be available even as an alternative option based on the announcement that Sgt Pepper/With a Little Help could never be played separatly. I imagine the same would go for any other songs that seamlessly run together such as the Abbey Road medley.

But would anyone ever really want to split those up? :D

Really hope they wouldn't do something ridiculous like putting those all together but believe they should clump Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End (medley) into one flowing track.

I think it should go like:
You Never Give Me Your Money (single)
Sun King (single)
Mean Mr. Mustard/Polythene Pam/She Came in Through the Bathroom Window (1 track)
Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight (1 track)
The end (single)
I think it will end up being as 1 track though and forcing us the buy the album as 1, not as singles.

This is strange as Here Comes The Sun and Because are not part of the medley.
I can't see them been available to play individually to be honest.

Yeah, I think they meant it as "the medley on side 2" not the entire side 2 is the medley. We had that argument at the announcement.

Yeah, that is what they meant - the medley on side 2 (for those who owned the LP).

I don't see how it's ridiculous. Sun King/Mean Mr. Mustard/Polythene Pam/She Came in Through the Bathroom Window are as conjoined and inseperable as Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End.

My preferred setup would be:
- You Never Give Me Your Money
- Sun King/Mean Mr Mustard/Polythene Pam/She Came in Through the Bathroom Window
- Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight The End
- Your Majesty
And also have the option to play it all consecutively.

I hope they don't charge for Your Majesty...

I hope they don't charge for Your Majesty...
Kind of interested to see that myself actually because it'll give a gauge of what they would do for songs like Maggie Mae/Dig It/Wild Honey Pie/etc.
I would imagine they'll charge something, but it should be seriously reduced. Of course, free would be nice :)

I'm thinking they may remedy this by lopping it in with the medley even though it is not technically part of it just to avoid assigning a price.
I've also considered th possibility that they may omit it entirely, but surely not...

If the medley will be available as a whole track...thank ****!
