View Full Version : Disappointed Over Lack of Wii

Hello,I do not claim to know whether or not the game will be any good, as others may be debating at the moment over such sparse information. However, I am disappointed that the game is not going to be released on the Wii. It seems to me a poor choice, especially given the Wii's current success. Sure, the Wii has less sold than the XBOX360 - but the 360 has been out for a year loner, and the Wii's rate of sale is incredible. (Let's just avoid mentioning the PS3 for sales rates...) Perhaps when you first started developing the game you had to make a choice of consoles, but it is unfortunate the one you made. I know from reading other threads you cannot talk about this subject, but I just wanted you to know that at least one guitar hero fan probably won't be participating in this new venture due to the lack of Wii support.

I wonder if the lousy online support for the Wii had anything to do with this decision?

<p>The game is coming to the Wii.</p><p> </p><p><strong>April 2, 2007</strong> - During a conference call to announce
its latest music game Rock Band for release on Xbox 360 and PS3,
Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos hinted strongly that a Wii-specific version
of the title would be coming out in the future. When asked if there was
any chance Rock Band would arrive on Wii, Rigopulos said without
hesitation, "Absolutely."<br>
<br>
"We will, at some time, bring Rock Band to every [important] platform,"
Rigopulos said. He added that Harmonix would optimize future versions
of Rock Band to fit the strengths of the platform. "I think the Wiimote
is something that holds enormous promise."<br>
<br>
Rock Band comes to Xbox 360 and PS3 this holiday. No Wii version has been officially announced.</p><p> </p><p>http://wii.ign.com/articles/777/777553p1.html </p><p> </p><p>The Wii lacked online support in the first few months of development, however, developers how have all the tools they need to make online games. In June, the first online game, Pokemon, will be out. Certainly by holiday 2007, there will be tons.</p><p> </p><p>I only own a Wii and a music game like this has been on my wishlist for a while now. It's surreal to see it happening, if it's as cool as we hope. </p>

either way it would not matter to me, since I [am lucky enough to]own all consoles. But looking at the ammount of wii's sold it would seem like a market share you do not want to forget about. However!.. I am still not convinced that the majority of wii owners would care about any new upcoming games besideds the wii sports it comes with. <BR/><BR/>I am serious in this. Alot of non gamers are getting the wii based mostly on the media hype that is surrounding it. And I am just not convinced that they will keep buying games for it. <BR/><BR/>THen again a game like this might make them aware again they have a wii and actually get it .<BR/><BR/>Time will tell. At least all you wii only owners can sleep easy knowing th egame is coming also your way .<IMG src="file/smile/smile.gif" /><BR/>

Actually, if anything, I'm more interested in upcoming games on the Wii than on other consoles. Many genre's I'm normally not interested in (golf, for instance) are suddenly really interesting for me because it's an entirely new experience. Even if I'm not interested enough to buy, I have this inner need to try everything with a novel control scheme on the Wii - where as on most consoles, it takes something really, really special to make me want to try it.

<P>How about a PS2 version, since the Wii is similiar in archetype? </P>

<P>i still haven't bought a single game for my Wii. The only one I can think of at the moment that I think looks interesting is MySims or whatever it's called. though, if theres no online play I don't know if I'm going to bother. Ah, who'm I kidding, I'll probably get it anyway, if anything just so I can ***** that there's no online play.</P>
<P> Anyway, I'm not against Rock Band for the Wii...and have no opinion on whether people will buy it or not...but between the three consoles (I have all three) I'm going to get this for the 360 purely because of all my friends on my friends list and also achievements, leaderboards, and voice com. I only know like 2 people that have a PS3 so it's a no-brainer.</P>

We love the Wii - it gets a lot of play at the office. It had to be on
a later schedule because Nintendo was on a later schedule for online
support and specs for third-party controllers.<br>

Brawl.<BR/><BR/>All this year. *A Wii version is a fantastic idea. *I own about 9 Wii games myself and they are a blast. *The fact that you don't own anything is a shame and nobody's fault but your own.<BR/>

<p>How about a PS2 version, since the Wii is similiar in archetype? </p><p>
</p><p>From a design perspective they're pretty similar, mostly because of screen resolution. In all other aspects of development they're quite different. They don't really have anything in common, at all. </p><p>I personally hope they don't ditch controllers for Wii in favour of a Wiimote-only version. Also, it would be really nice if the controllers could be plugged into any of the consoles the game is released on (extra cables sold separately could be a solution). Come to think of it, a single online profile would be awesome too. Might be hard as you don't have as much control over Xbox Live though.<br></p>

I have never been able to picture guitar hero on the Wii... something about it seems so wrong. I like the Wii (not nearly as much as ps3, but enough) however i just cant imagine these games working on it for some reason.<br>

To me it feels like some of the controllers will be Wii-mote based and make the game all gimmicky. It's not like I'd want to play air drums just because the wii-motes are able to do that. <img src="http://www.rockbandgame.com/file/smile/shocked.gif">
