They got rid of them cause, they were put in to help people find threads when using the search function.

However 99% of the tags did not have anything to do with the actual thread.

I say it was a good move. Some tags that I have read before were just nonsense and had nothing to do with the conversation.

My guess is that people were abusing it, writing inappropriate or irrelevant things.

Sorry to everyone that was actually using the tags to search, but the other 300,000 people using them for spam and "jokes" ruined it for you. We spent way too much time clearing out spam, flame tags, off topic comments, and rude comments.

Too many people made spam tags, and no one really used them...so it doesn't create that much of an impact.

What's weird though, is that there was one time that I was trying so hard looking for a thread that I just can't seem to find using the search function using different keywords. I remembered the tread had a "whambulance" tag, and actually found the thread using that tag when everything else failed. The tricky part though, was to figure out actually how many A's were used in that particular whaaaambulance tag.

This mod speaks the truth. My bans were both for spam tags, so I'm glad to see them gone. I talked with Lex about it a while ago.

All the misused ones were pretty bad *cough* BOOGERS *cough* , but there were times the joking tags had me laughing more that the thread itself. I'll miss those. :(
