So I've been playing rock band for some time, and right off the bat when I opened the box and tried out the drums.. before the game was even on.. I noticed that the bass pedal is VERY stiff, though I do not play real drums (although I have a few times in the past). My girlfriend who does play real drums agreed with me that the pedal was very stiff. So.. On to game play.. no problems through easy..medium...But when it comes to some songs in hard I find it near impossible to be able to hit the Bass pedal 1 note and a half note in a row, it's definitely not because I can not coordinate myself, because I can do it on some songs. The only problem I have is that the pedal just seems too damn stiff to be able to press it fast enough to register... That's from.. foot up.. to foot down... to foot back up... and foot back down..
Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me..?

Its just you. Use the ball of your foot instead of resting your heal on the pedal.

I figured that, but the that thing is like flying all over the place and sounds like I'm hitting a tin can with a baseball bat.. but we'll see how it goes.

For double bass drum beats you don't have to bring the pedal all the way back up. Just tap it down twice quickly. And as always, keep the pedal pressed down in between pedal beats.

Oh don't worry that pedal won't be so stiff after awhile....then it breaks like most of ours. But yes it is a bit stiff and BIG for a pedal. Playing heel down is tough, you should use the ball of your feet and keep the pedal pressed down like resident360 said. It will help. Also, you should have your girl show you a few things on real drums...that'll help too

umm i think it just you.....one thing for double taps, your not surpose to lift your foot all the way back up for the next hit. Maybe you and your girlfriend just suck?

If you want to prolong the single-piece state of your pedal, make sure the ball of your foot is over the spring. If you rest over the orange line, or further towards the top, the footboard will snap in no time flat. Not saying this will guarantee your pedal won't break, but it should slow the process.

the first pedal i had seemed way too stiff, and my have been the reason i broke it. replacement pedal seems to have a weaker spring, not only making it easier to play, but feels less likely to break

If you dont want it to break or if it shows signs of cracks and you don't want to void your warranty, get something somewhat thin and sturdy, like a long piece of metal or something and tape it to the pedal.
I noticed mine had cracks, but I already RMAed my guitar and didn't want more money tied on my debit card so I did this with my pedal, and it hasn't broken yet.
