Will Rubber Soul be the US version or the UK version? Just wondering because I want Nowhere Man!

When the CDs were first created back in '87, the determination was made to use the UK album releases as the standard versions of the albums, with the only exception being Magical Mystery Tour. The new remasters are following this standard, and I believe that the Beatles:Rock Band will also do so.

My hope is that it will mean UK release with US songs tacked on.

Since this thread is about Rubber Soul, and it's one of the worst victims of hard panning... I've read that the Rock Band mixes aimed to recreate the original stereo mixes. But most of the Beatles stereo mixes were actually afterthoughts and were done with mono equipment in mind. So the instruments and voices were hard panned to avoid summing during mono fold-down. If you've listened to the stereo version of Rubber Soul lately, you've probably noticed the middle of the stereo field is mostly a barren wasteland. Any chance the Rock Band mixes fill that in a bit? Or will I be setting vocalists up in front of one speaker and instrumentalists up in front of the other?
Also, it's kind of mind-blowing that Giles Martin worked on the early recordings to get usable single-instrument tracks specifically for Rock Band, especially when the shareholders have thus far shown no desire to use those newly-separated tracks for anything else. That's some serious commitment to a music contribution for a video game.

They'd be on the Help album DLC. It's kinda looking like the DLC's are gonna be by album, all of them.

I hear you on all of that. Big time. I was curious about these things myself and from everything I've read and put the pieces together, it seems as if the majority of the songs were remixed to fit in to the Rock Band formula. I would imagine most of the tracks in the game will utilize the new remasters, and then mixes from that to go in to the proper speakers. We'll see I guess.

The articles I have read said the Rock Band mixes are unique to the game. Giles mixed them one way for the game and another for the new CD releases based on what sounded better for the media but tried his best to keep the mix as close to the orig as possible.
So, the songs should sound great.
edit: yeah, what mva said...

As silly as this sounds, I'm more excited to hear the Rock Band mixes of songs than I am for the stereo remasters. I already pre-ordered the mono box, but it's hard to get too excited about remasters of the same stereo mixes once you've heard what's possible with fresh mixes (see LOVE). On the other hand, a few of the tracks on the recent Yellow Submarine rerelease are pretty forgettable, so it's a double-edged sword. I was really hopeful that someone would actually remix the whole catalog, though I know remixing so many songs permanently ingrained in the consciousness of generations is a dicey proposition. Still, it would be something new. Who knows? Maybe remixes are coming whenever the shareholders decide it's time to go digital. One last hurrah with remastered CDs before they offer us downloads of "All The Beatles classics newly remixed with cutting-edge digital technology" or whatever other marketing blurb they can come up with for their bread-and-butter audience.

I think that's exactly what'll happen. Like you said remixing classics like this gets a little touchy, and I can't imagine anyone but Giles Martin doing the whole thing. I've got both box sets on order and looking forward to them, but I get what you're saying about the stereo. I expect it to be a random experience of "Wow that sounds great!!" and "That doesn't sound any different from the original." But it's The Beatles, therefore I'll love it. Really looking forward to the mono set though.
I've already seen multiple articles herald these 2 box sets as the last big hurrah/release for CD's, which I guess is fitting. And I've felt the same way about the Rock Band songs; I think those may end up being the best versions of a lot of them that we hear for a while.
I'll thoroughly enjoy the 2 sets (and of course the game,) and know that I probaly won't see the remixes for a while. And I can deal with that as I'm spending enough money on 9/9 to be satisfied for quite a while lol.

Giles should be knighted like his father for his commitment to this project alone.

The UK versions are considered the official canon version, so that will definitely be what will be released.

Hopefully there is a dreamscape for Nowhere Man just like in the Yellow Submarine movie.

Yep. I'm dissappointed that there hasn't been a sight of a Blue Meanie anywhere yet, though if they did a dreamscape with Jeremy Hillary Boob PhD that would make up for it ^ - ^

I think it would be shocking if Blue Meanies were not in the Yellow Submarine dreamscape.
