Stupid me just realized that Pleasure (Pleasure) is a live recording (like they recorded it live and that said version is whats in Rock Band).

Who said it couldnt?
The only limitations are the same ones as for ordinary masters. It all depends on how it was mixed.

I suppose they wouldnt want to use a live version too much, as bands tend to play a little faster than in the studio and also the rythmn may not be perfect live, thus adding an unecessary edge of difficulty to it.

Still, I see no reason why they cant use a recent live recording for more songs, for example using one of Iron Maiden's live performances (as they record every tour ever since 1986).

Neither did I but I know pre-release the question had been thrown around alot of times and I don't think we ever got a definite answer.

I know I'm probably a day late and a dollar short (after RB I can't stop saying that) but I figured what the hell. The forums are getting kind of mundane so any postable random crap I just post it hoping maybe we can get some liveliness.

Yeah, Sean mentioned that any multitrack recording could be used, including any live recordings that are good enough. I'm pretty sure the version of Pleasure (Pleasure) in the game is the studio recording. They just released a live recording as a promotion.

I don't think the RB version is actually live.

Pleasure is live? Are you sure you aren't being confused by the hordes of singers in the band?

it would be pretty sweet to hear some live tunes, but overall i think id like most of my DLC to be studio recordings.

I think about half of those grateful dead songs should be live, they would be more fun and would add a few extra hours of rockin out.

Bang Camaro have like 35 singers all saying the same thing at the same time so that's why it sounds like it's live.

It has to be live because in the live version you can hear the vocalist talking about being out with the crowd in Harvard and you can hear it in the RB version.

At 3:41 I do believe.

I know but again I doubt they would have recorded a studio version with a discussion about being out in Harvard.

ok but it still isn't a live version in the traditional sense of live recordings.

and bands often will include odd things in their music, especially like bang camaro having a discussion about harvard.

Nope, that's in the studio version. I have the album, if you want me to double check it for you.

I mean I'm all for being proven wrong and all but it could still be a live recording right?

And yeah I get in the traditional sense but any live recording being filmed is often going to be recorded on individual tracks.

Yeah I have been super obsessed with watching live performances lately. That's really the only reason this even came to mind.

Nope, the version in game is definitely the studio version. I wake up to the song every morning :D Seriously.

Actually, if I were to do a live recording, I'd mix it down as quickly as possible to save space. Mostly the drums would get mixed to stereo immediately.

So we might see live DLC in the future, but Pleasure (Pleasure) is the studio recording.

i think that having live tracks in this game would add awesomeness. Think of it, actual crowds chanting and singing along imposed over some of the virtual crowd. i'm sure no one would disagree that that would be cool and is probably why this thread exists...i just wanted to say it
