i'm not a big burger person, but my favorite is probably black bean patties on buttered focaccia bread with pesto and pepper-jack.

Not really into them too much, but if i do eat one i usually make it myself from the extra leanest beef i can find and i usually make them half beef, half spinach, and usually eat it open-face.

Oh, that sounds like it would be awesome with some Swiss cheese on it, and I'm not a cheese fan at all.

it is quite delectable, but the only pain in the ass is that you need to steam the spinach before mixing it with the beef. Otherwise you're going to have one hell of a time trying to get the patties to hold together with fresh crisp spinach. Also have to use breadcrumbs, garlic, and parsley in the beef mixture for best results.

Oh yeah, I can imagine. Do you have to squeeze the spinach to drain excess liquid? I know cooked, wet spinach can be just as much of a pain in the ass as fresh spinach occasionally.

I may have to give this a try.

i usually steam them, and then let them cool off to room temperature before mixing them in the beef. If you're having a hard time making them stick together just add more breadcrumbs or you can try adding an egg to the mix.

Okay, that would make sense. I'm going to do some experimenting with this sometime soon. Thanks!

No In-N-Out Double Double on poll = epic failz.

Also no Nation's Giant burger either. What a shame...

If you don't live in California, Oregon, Arizona, or Nevada and have yet to experience the taste of an In-N-Out Burger, you'll be in for a great treat. Same goes for Nations but they're more localized and the burgers are huge.

i believe you're right about the peanut oil... two of my vegetarian friends recently moved to nashville and said they were veggie-friendly.

i'm surrounded by five guys, but have yet to try them.
does anyone know if they have vegetarian burgers, 'cuz i'm not driving downtown for french fries.

i will look into then... i'm not in a burger mood often, but i've heard so much about this place since moving to south carolina that it'd be silly not to give it a shot.

i'll admit that after living in small towns my entire life the notion of just about any non-ethnic restaurant being vegetarian-friendly is kinda weird.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries is the best Burger and Fries I have ever eaten period.

I try to stay away from traditional fast food for health reasons but if I'm forced into it I would say the Whopper is the best on the list.

AMEN! I just had that today and even though I had spacers in (which kill me when I eat anything) I still enjoyed it.

Always get that burger when I go there.

Yep, I get it every time. Plus I put the seasoning on the fries. It's the best burger and fries meal I've ever had.

they seem to be hit or miss based on location...

the chili's in both jackson and nashville (TN, of course) had awesome black bean burgers, but the two i've tried in south carolina are pretty weak...

If Wendy's had more meat on their burgers, then they'd win, hands down.
It'd also help if they had better fries.

In-N-Out is the most kickass burger place I've ever been to. I love their Animal Style fries (and any of their fries for that matter), and I always order a 2x3 (2 patties, 3 slices of cheese) whenever I go there :D

I have to give props to Carl's Jr. They have good burgers. Not as good as In N Out imo, but better than most places. I think on the East Coast they're called Hardee's or something like that.

If anybody here lives near San Francisco, there's also this chain called "Nation's", and their burgers are great and huge! That place or more or less a diner kind of restaurant.
