Even though it pains us PS3 users not to have the GH3 LP playable in your game. You guys/Gals at least tried to give us the opportunity to play with these controllers. In light of the recent events; we have all seen the true colors of your competition in the current market.
I for 1 am glad you stood your ground; if rumors be true that your competitors require some sort of compensation for your efforts in open interoperability within each others hardware/software.
Yes I am a PS3 owner, and I support you guys/gals 100% thus far.
I will be selling off (or destroy) my current bundle of GH3 CD/Guitar, purchase another one of your Guitar Controllers instead.
I have also purchased every single downloadable product you have produced for RockBand, only because I love and support your product so much more. Where as I haven't bothered with your competitors products at all, because of my disappointment right from the start (launch date on both products).
Keep on Rockin!

As I said in IRC, I am in total agreeance to this. With the exception I cannot destroy GH3 as I don't own it.
But a hearty thanks to HMX for trying.

Try and return it. Simply state that once you opened the box and saw the EULA you did not agree with it and want to return the product. It's an idea anyway, since many games don't give you access to EULA until you open the box.
The reason I suggest this route is that if you sell it Activision still has their money but if you return it for a different game or a refund they will lose that money.
Just a thought, and all they can say is no ;)

I love the Idea, but I don't know how practical it would be since I'm past the return date on the receipt.

Yeah, I've had mine too long, too, and long ago tossed out the box for it.
I figure it goes to GameStop to help pay for a copy of Uncharted.

I don't know if they'll accept a gift idea, but it's worth a shot... Either way I can trade it in for a Strat when they come out. (I hope)

It was a gift?
That's what I was going to say. It's Christmas, you can return just about anything given you still have the original package. After Christmas take it back with the receipt and say you received as a gift from "insert name of someone you know here" but after reading the EULA that came up once you inserted the game that you would not agree to it.
That'd be my tact.
Also, might want to contact Red Octane or Activision as well saying you do not agree to the EULA and see what options they give you.
On a side note:
I'm hoping to get Uncharted for Christmas, but if I don't its one I'm going to get right after Christmas. I would have gotten it when it came out but there was Rock Band to play ;)
Might get me Ratchet & Clank to, still unsure about that one though.

Quick, off-topic response: the PS3 R&C is a great game. Well worth it, especially if you enjoyed previous installments.
I'll let you know about Uncharted when I'm done trading in GHIII.

FYI...Uncharted kicks major AZZ!!!! It's one of the best games I have played in awhile (cept for Rock Band, of course)...
You open that game Xmas morning and I guarantee you won't be going to Grandma's for Christmas dinner, it's addicting as hell!

I wonder what this is going to do to the trade in value at GameStop? I'd like to trade mine in too on something, but if everyone is trading it in, it's going to be like $25. :P
I can also say, Uncharted is fantastic. Great writing/humor and it's fun.

I hear it's already very, very low...something like $17 for the game and $20 for the controller.

True, but in this case Actiblunder doesn't get any more money from someone else interested in trying out the product. In the used market the developer sees none of the proceeds, only on initial sale. So all trading it in will do is have a less expensive alternative be available for someone else to buy, and undercut Actiblunder's profits.
Even though mine is for the 360, I'll be trading it in once the wireless strats come out. The game is "okay", but if I can't play GH3 with my preferred controller (the strat), then it's not worth keeping. And I'll support HMX and buy another of their controllers once I can.

Their site says $25 for the game on 360, nothing mentioned about how much the controller would be, or how much the PS3 version would get ya.

That's a good point. If there are used versions to buy it will limit the sale of new sets. Good thinking =)
And that stinks about how addictive Uncharted is cause I'm driving down to visit family Christmas day. I'll have to wait a few days to play any new games I might pick up =/ Sarcasm there as I really do hope it's that addictive.
My list right now of PS3 games to think about getting are: Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, followed closely by Heavenly Sword and Folklore (which looks intriguing but have heard very mixed reviews about).

I really like Folklore, but I bought it about a week before R&C was released, then played R&C pretty much until Rock Band was released, and, well, it's all been Rock Band from there.
I think Folklore's a pretty eclectic game, though: lots of cool RPG elements, an intriguing story, and very, very innovative gameplay that makes good use of the SIXAXIS. I wouldn't say it's a mainstream game, though--someone who loves modern fantasy and fairy tales would get a lot more out of it than someone dedicated to Tolkien or Call of Duty.
Heavenly Sword is also pretty good, but I have even less to share about it, since I only played it for a few hours. Incredible voice and motion acting (directed by Andy Serkis), stunning graphics, and high-octane gameplay with, again, some pretty neat uses of the SIXAXIS.
Oh, and since I'm pointing out neat uses of the SIXAXIS, R&C has about five different ways they use it, and I know Uncharted uses it to help you toss grenades more accurately.

I'd GameFly Heavely Sword if you have an account (and why wouldn't you? Blockbuster put all the good chains out of business and charge $8 to rent 1 game!). I really loved the story, but the graphics glitches (lots of v-sync/frame rate issues) and shortness (without much re-playability) kept me from "keeping it" from GameFly. I really enjoyed my time with the game and the end was fantastic, but I'm glad I didn't spend $60 on it.
Ratchet and Clank is beautiful and fun and probably worth owning with all the things to find and unlock (I did "keep it" from GameFly). I can recommend whole heartedly if you like those types of games (Ratchet, Jak, Sly).
I checked out Folklore and I really liked the gameplay part (sucking in the Folks and using different ones a'la pokemon) but I couldn't get into the story/overworld elements (anything that wasn't part of the core gameplay).

That sounds interesting. I much prefer fantasy/fairy tales over Call of Duty 4. I played the demo and it seemed interesting.. if a bit slow? But it was just the demo. I might have to use my free Blockbuster rental to try it out. I enjoy games that get the sixaxis right, fl0w comes to mind. I enjoy relaxing to that game.
I enjoyed the sixaxis controls for getting the folks, I thought that was well implemented.
It's nice to hear that devs are finding ways to finally use the sixaxis properly.
I don't have Gamefly btw, and as conceited as it sounds (sorry), I prefer to buy games over renting. Unless the game is only good for a rental (which I've heard that Heavenly Sword is only a rental). I like to purchase and then lend it to friends, and I find it helps my friends decide to purchase the system if they know they can just borrow my games.
One last question, if still watching this thread :) Does Ratched & Clank have a "been there, done that" feel to it? I'd much rather get something refreshing/different (like Folklore) if that's the case. Not that I won't end up buying the other eventually but can't buy them all at once unfortunately. The demo of R&C seemed to short to tell if it was just same ol' R&C w/ exceptional graphics.
Thanks for all the info on the games, and sorry to have gotten the thread off topic.

If you have played any R&C game before, the formula will feel very familiar. If that's important to you, you might want to go after Folklore instead.
But if you've noticed my sig (assuming you have them turned on), it shouldn't surprise you when I say that a) R&C is one of my favorite game franchises ever and b) R&CF: Tools of Destruction is one of the big reasons I bought my PS3 when I did.
The demo of R&C that's at the PlayStation store is a modified version of the first "level" in the game--the path through the action is identical, but you're equipped with some extra weapons that you don't have in the game.
What really impressed me about the game, though, is just how "active" it is. Starting at the halfway point you get into some really insane firefights that are not only more prolonged than anything you've seen before, but which are also populated with more simultaneous enemies than I think I ever thought were possible in a console game. And from that point forward, the battles just keep getting bigger.
Of course, so do your weapons.
Ultimately, it's possible to play the game without really being challenged (because the weapons are so insanely powerful), but you can regulate the level of challenge for yourself by refusing to use the weapons that make things too easy. One guy I know actually went through the entire game using only four of the 24 weapons, then shared a save game that began the challenge level (second playthrough) with no armor and almost nothing in the way of weapons. Anyone playing from his save game stopped complaining about how easy the game was.

Single biggest plot twist in gaming IMO (since it actually completely alters the gameplay experience)--right up there with Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath's plot twist which cause a similar (but not as severe) shift in gameplay.

Thanks for the info on the game. It's a tough decision. Easy doesn't matter to me long as it has a good story and crisp gameplay. I like something to relax to not something I'm gonna want to throw my controller through a wall (why I quit playing fighting games).
Definitely getting Uncharted as the only bad thing I've heard is it's a bit on the short side. Going to have to think on the other two. Again, thanks for the info. The only PS3 games I had prior to Rock Band and Assassin's Creed was Resistance. So I know Insomniac does a good job.

I have Folklore, and Heavenly Sword and love them both.
The only downside to both of them is that the gameplay from beginning to end was a little short lived. With folklore though you have a chance to create maps and download other peoples maps to get more bonus items "costumes" and extra "folk" as well as extra downloadable content for expansion. So it has alot more re-playability.

Then you should enjoy Tools of Destruction.
Regarding the story: while the primary purpose of the story in the game is to move you from planet to planet and adventure to adventure, the overall construct of it is interesting, funny, and ultimately satisfying.
(minor spoiler alert)
Since Insomniac intend for ToD to be the first of a trilogy, it does end with a cliff-hanger unrelated to the main story.

Thanks again for the info. If I don't get ToD for Christmas I've decided to go with that. Folklore looks very temping but ToD just looks to be one of those games you shouldn't pass up from everything I've heard and read.
One thing you've mentioned and I've read elsewhere is that the story, minus the ending, is very good. But how many games have you seen the ending of and felt satisfied? Not very many, for me anyway.
Thanks again. Hoping to get Uncharted for Christmas and buy R&C:ToD myself and that'll give me something to play during breaks from RB.

Going to have to disagree with you here.
GH guitar is anything but those things you mention. It has its own share of problems. Not saying its bad or trying to imply it has nearly the defect rate of the RB guitar but it definitely wasn't problem free.
I prefer the look and feel of the RB guitar a lot more than any of the GH guitars. The strumbar and the buttons being flush to the neck are the two biggest reasons for me.
