View Full Version : POLL: The 45th Song

What do you think it'll be?

I personally don't think the LAST song to be announced necessarily means it'll be the FINAL song of the Beatles' career.

So I think that it'll be A Day in the Life.

Tell me what you think! :D

I'm not sure.

I would guess The End or A Day In The Life, but I don't want either of them, since Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper's are DLC.
My third guess would be In My Life, but again... DLC.

I voted Strawberry Fields Forever because I really don't have a clue, I would love to see it in the game though. They're a bit weak on the Magical Mystery Tour.

I still think Hey Jude would be the best choice, it's the song a whole lot of people will want to play right outta the box. It would also be a party classic!

If I would have choose without other people in mind I'd go for Strawberry Fields, I mean it's such a important song in their career and also one of the best.

Hasn't this been pretty much confirmed via the achievement list anyway?

I mean, it is starting to look like people are in denial that (favorite song X) might have gotten left off the initial 45 song list. So theyre clinging to this false hope that it's the secret/unannounced song.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, it's still anyone's game, really.

The End doesn't make nearly as much sense as some other songs, and the new trailer plus the comment made by the Twitter people makes it even more likely of a "surprise" 45th song.

I think I agree with Apples. I mean, people are really just coming up with their favourite song for number 45 and clinging to them. And with Apples being linked to HMX as he is, I wouldn't be surprised if the last song really is what people say it is.

iAmtheWalrus
08-17-2009, 05:05 PM
Or after all of this commotion, HMX could be trying to make you think one way with these clues (or multiple ways, in this case) and blind side you with another song, unspoken of!

The best argument against The End is the one I read just a minute ago, The End can not be a secret song because we already know we're gonna get it anyways. If HMX would have wanted a secrect song they should have picked another one.

That also eliminates many of the other likely possibilities: A Day in the Life, In My Life, any formation of the Abbey Road Medley...

Which still leaves Let it Be, Hey Jude, and some others...that is, of course, if that is true.

I don't know any more than the average forum goer with respect to the Beatles project.

I am just trying to be a pragmatist. My observation is that people are banking such high expectations on one mystery song. Expectations that can't all possibly be filled.

There are at least 5 good "finale" songs I could think of off the top of my head (and probably more that I can't think of). But there's only one song. That's at best a 1 in 5 chance, or an 80% chance of disappointment.

I'm just trying to put things in perspective so that when the song does get revealed the forums don't get deluged under posts expressing disappoinmentt and criticism that the "wrong" final song was picked.

After all the trouble HMX went through to make this like a world's most unnerving scavanger hunt (it is unnerving because we can't wait for the rest of it to be revealed), there are practically no definite answers to Song 45.

It should be In My Life or A Day In the Life or Free As A Bird

jay4428
08-17-2009, 05:19 PM
It probably is The End, but that doesn't make sense on a few fronts: (1) Why have a "surprise" song that will be DLC anyway in a few weeks from launch, why cause buildup and suspense for no reason? (2) The End belongs to the Medley - playing it separately doesn't seem right. (3) It doesn't fit the description of the Brian's Song ending, unless you play The End first and then it goes to the cinematic which contains more heartfelt songs (non-playable like the opening).

HocusPocus

Brian's Song ending = closing cinematic. I've wondered why the game would end in something teary. I'd rather have something energetic that makes me say, "LET'S PLAY AGAIN!!!" The End has that for the guitars at least, if the encore is after the cinematic.

The End makes more sense by itself than you might think. Sure, it fits really well into the medley, and people are so used to hearing it as part of the medley. McCartney has been playing The End following Sgt Pepper's (reprise) at the end of his shows for most of the last decade. It works by itself better than you might think.

A surprise song in the game is a surprise song in the game. Whether it comes out a few days later, a few weeks later, a month later...a surprise is a surprise. Does anybody really think Day In The Life, Hey Jude, and songs like that aren't going to make it in sooner or later? Day is already part of Pepper's album DLC if it isn't the surprise song.

As far as I know, unless it was completely made from snippets of the Beatles, but recorded primarily outside of the Beatles actual lifetime, then it will most likely make it in. Rain stands a pretty high chance as far as I know; it is, afterall, "the best B-side..."

The achievements also make reference to Penny Lane and other songs, and they aren't in the game. The reference to The End with the encore achievement might just be that: a reference.

Also, I'm on Club 90's Singles. One of them would be so awesome to play. More likely Free As A Bird since it's better known and has separate singing sections for John, Paul, and George, but I love Real Love more.

This is absolutely correct. People who are interested in "facts" and "evidence" have already accepted (or celebrated!) that The End is the 45th song, and have moved on.

Other folks (from this poll, a surprisingly large amount!) are not prepared to accept that. There are also people to this day who are convinced 9/11 was an inside job, or that Barack Obama was not born in the United States.

Similar to the way people got advanced copies of Rock Band and Rock Band 2. Among the possibilities:

1. He got a leaked pirated copy.
2. He has connections to one of the facilities that is printing physical copies of the game.
3. He has connections to someone who is doing offshored QA on the Gold master.

Yep, it's free for in-store pickup. If the option ever happens, you take the debit/credit card, photo ID and order number (I print the receipt) to the pickup counter, they verify, and dig it out of the back room. You can skip the registers afterwards, just go straight to security at the exit and show your receipt.

Home delivery comes from wherever the warehouse is, Kentucky or Nevada or somewhere. In-store pickup has your local store take the box directly from storage to the back room behind the pickup counter.

I think it will be the 7 minute version of "Hey Jude".

Just look at the lyrics:

Hey jude, dont make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.

Hey jude, dont be afraid.
You were made to go out and get her.
The minute you let her under your skin,
Then you begin to make it better.

And anytime you feel the pain, hey jude, refrain,
Dont carry the world upon your shoulders.
For well you know that its a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder.

Hey jude, dont let me down.
You have found her, now go and get her.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.

So let it out and let it in, hey jude, begin,
You're waiting for someone to perform with.
And dont you know that its just you, hey jude, you'll do,
The movement you need is on your shoulder.

Hey jude, dont make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her under your skin,
Then you'll begin to make it
Better better better better better better, oh.

Na na na na na ,na na na, hey jude...

I Bolded and Underlined the important lyrics.

"Hey Jude" sums everything up, and that even though it's the end of The Beatles, it's just the beginning of their legacy.

It has some drum fills in there, I can hear a bass line and guitar. It's perfectly fine, more exciting than A Day in the Life. (Although I love that song too)

I'm guessing most of the "Other..." responses are "Carnival of Light" then?

Well, I voted "other" under the impression that it's "Carnival of Light," so that's at least 7% of the "other" vote towards "Carnival of Light."

In all honesty, my guess is "The End." I can't imagine a piece like "Carnival of Light" working in a Rock Band game, just based off of descriptions of the song I've read.

I was searching the web for TB:RB info, when I came across two interesting things. One was an announcement from Harmonix saying Abbey Road will be released around Oct. 20, including a medley that u can buy that let's u play And Your Bird Can Sing all the way through any remaining Abbey Road songs, to The End. And why would they include The End, when it is going to be on DLC. The second interesting thing I found was, someone at the E3 interviewed someone in the Harmonix Band and asked him, "So what are your favorite songs that you have been able to play in your time with TB:RB?" he then said "Well it's really hard to say, I liked playing Back in the USSR, WMGGW, and HEY JUDE a lot, but all the songs are really fun to play." This was posted today online, search "Beatles Rock Band" and u should find it. It was posted August 21st.

I have to say, I'm much too lazy/drunk to look at the whole thread, but I think that 'It Won't Be Long' from With the Beatles would be a superb final addition.

I know that it's not as popular as any of the poll songs (I'd love to see any of them, and SFF is my favorite song of all time), but seriously. Good guitar, good bass, good drums, sweet vocals/backing vocals.

The only thing against it is that it's not a popular song. It IS one of my favorites, though. I guess I'm delusional. I can only hope.

Has anyone considered the tobacco reference in the rating? Wouldn't that make A Day in the Life a strong contender? Do any of the other disc songs contain a smoking reference? Apologies if this has already been discussed.

Choking smokers?
So, that wouldn't be as obvious as A Day in the Life.

Wait, sorry if I'm being to optimistic, I really want it in the game.

It wouldn't be a lie cuz it doesn't say it's one of the 4. They could add songs, change to a new 4, leave them as the only 4 and have it be an unlisted song... None of that = lie. Tho, if I had to bet, I'd bet on it being one of the 4

The amount of folks in denial that it's something other than The End, is kinda saddening. Then again, Beatles fans tend to be "dreamers" so it makes sense.

And for everyone saying that "well there are other achievements that reference songs we aren't getting", yes you're right - but only partially. Every achievement that involves a specific song is labeled by a lyrical reference from that song.

Plus, let's face it, The End is a logical closer that includes fun parts on every instrument. Giles Martin already said that they chose songs based on "fun to play" versus popularity. And the final lyrics in The End basically sum up the entire message of The Beatles and their music.

I think that It is " She Loves You". They said It was a surprise why would the surprise be obvious. She Loves You was the first biggest song for beatles in the states according to Wikipedia. I think the list is a sham. But if any off the list the best song for rock band would be Help!.

It was confirmed by the Official Beatles Rock Band Facebook Page that it's one of these 4 songs
A.Help!
B.Hey Jude
C.Flying
D.Yesterday

I understand that, but how do you know that Harmonix isnt just fooling everyone.

why would they post it, if they were lying about it?

I dont know maybe to get people talking about the game more. To get information on dlc for players. People are saying "the End" and other songs. I just seems to me the 4 they picked from arent the best choices for the game. Dont get me wrong they are great songs. But the only song out of the four I can see as the last is Help. Hey Jude, great song cant see it in rock band. Yesterday Great song as well cant see it rock band. Flying just doesnt seem to have it to be a secret or surprise. I personally dont trust harmonixs, look at their downloadable content one week its Green day and the next James Brown. This is the reason why I love rock band. These people throw curveballs. Unlike Activision Blizzard or whatever they are called this week. Harmonix is true to their fans and players, and they like to mess with us. Hey its one of the four maybe Im a moron. Hell maybe the secret is that all four are the surprise to make everyone happy. I have know clue. Those are my guesses.

Well right now it could be Hey Jude, Flying, or Yesterday. I didn't add The End because it HAS been announced as DLC. With The End gone, I believe it is Hey Jude. I mean seriously, it would be a great song for hopping on the elephant-rhino creature and just singing Hey Jude as you fade into the credits.

Just because you can't see it in Rock Band, doesn't mean it won't be in there. It has all the instruments you need, they just don't start right away. So what? They come in within the first minute. It'd be fine on Rock Band, and between this GameStopTV and the 4 choices on Face Book, Hey Jude isn't an unlikely choice.

Well I guess we will see. Thats probably why I dont work for Harmonix even though I'm like 40 minutes from there office. I am still going with she loves you as the last song. If hey jude is the last song I am not going to be unhappy.

Guys, the game is in chronological order. The final song of the game, won't be from their fifth album, it'll be from their last few albums, most likely off of Let It Be.

My money is one "Across the Universe", but I know for a fact it won't be Help!

It's in chronological order? Seriously? Whoa!!

No but I'm guessing since the fact that the last song is going to be on the Elephino and it isn't an actual venue, it won't matter which song they play. And if you want to talk about chronological order, why is A Hard Day's Night on Ed Sullivan Show? It just is.

So because you think it's The End, it definitely has to be The End, and whoever else thinks it's a different song is deemed wrong and in denial? It has just a good chance for A Day in the Life as it is The End.

It looks like this became the official "what do you think the final song will be?" thread.

It's been a while, but since when are we saying it's anything outside of the four given choices: Help!, Hey Jude, Flying, or Yesterday?

I mean, people are saying Strawberry Fields Forever and Let it Be, but I thought we pretty much established it was going to be one of those four...I guess I've been gone longer than I thought! LOL :D
