I CAN NOT GET PAST 8%. This is ridiculous. Its driving me insane. When the song gets to the red green alternation with the bass on the green I swear its impossible.
How did you accomplish it?

It took me about 20 minutes of practice to get through this song. I just went to the practice mode and did it on 60% speed, then 70%, 80%, 90%, then full speed. Something happens around 90% speed where it gets really hard to hit that R,G+Bass part.
Practice on a slow speed and you'll be better prepared when you get to full speed...

That's the one part of the song I can seem to do right every time. Go figure. ;)

First time I ran into it (having played 11 hard drum songs prior to it coming up in a BWT round) I had to double-check that I was on hard. :/
Unlike other hard songs on the tier, it was pie for me.

Well, I have completed EVERY other song up to that part. All 5 stars with the exception of two.
I am a drummer. So it annoys me more that i cant do it :(

I thought this was easy compared to Run to The Hills. That song is a *****.

One thing that helped me immensely was trying it on Expert once. I then realized those notes are all triplets and not quarter notes.
I then essentially say in my head "tri-puh-let-tri-puh-let-"... etc. to keep time, hitting drums on the "let" and "tri".
Aside from that, I naturally start my rolls with my left hand, so the red-green change-up is my natural range of motion. I usually have the kick pedal under my left foot, but I have to move it to my right, just so my right hand hits the green pad as I kick the pedal. (During the break before Long Time starts up, I switch the pedal back over.)
If you naturally start rolls with your right hand, I'd suggest trying at least a couple times in practice with Lefty Flip on. This puts the Red-Green section as a Green-Red combo (those fills require you to hit the red pad to activate now!). Also, put the pedal under the left leg... it's much easier to bring that whole side of your body down at once than hit with one hand and kick with the foot on the other side of your body, especially for something as repetitive as this song.
If you do switch it up, there's a huge gap after Foreplay does it's slow down thing and you hit four Kick/Cymbal (red on Lefty, green on normal) spaced far apart. The last one is an overdrive hit (man I love those single hit sections) and then there's about a minute where you do absolutely nothing. This is where you can reflip things back to your normal configuration without screwing anybody's groove up. (You can lefty/righty flip in the middle of a song... it's nice for when I need to take over for someone playing righty guitar...)

Check out my video link below. Your foot is always going while your right and your left plays the other two notes making a triplet. So the foot is on 1 the right hand on 2 and the left on 3. The others advise of slowing it down if you cannot get it is a good idea.

I tried doing some other songs on hard, and when I did play that, I didn't have much trouble with it. Just a matter of getting experience.

After you past the intro, it's a piece of cake. But after really examining the introduction, I fundamentally think there's something fundamentally inconsistant with the original drummers tempo with the triplets as he seems to slow down so you have to visually match the notes instead of relying on your 'true metronomic' sense.
I couldn't pass 8% either until I realize that I just had to rely on the screen...after that I was able to just celebrate and just enjoy the rest of the 4/4 parts...
Can someone explain to me why this intro part is even in the song? It really doesn't seem to have any true connection with the rest of the tune OR was this part of a concept album(ala Rush's 2112?)

Per the Wiki article,
""Foreplay/Long Time" are two popular rock songs commonly grouped together from the classic rock band Boston, on the 1976 eponymous Boston album. It combines two songs, "Foreplay" and "Long Time" which are generally played as one on radio and are listed as "Foreplay/Long Time" on the album, as one track.
"Foreplay" is a progressive instrumental prelude, primarily consisting of rapid triplet arpeggios on Hammond B3 organ with a bass part doubled by a piano, and drums, with lead guitar joining at the end. According to Tom Scholz, leader and producer of Boston, the synthesizer-like swoops were not produced with synthesizers, but rather by scraping a pick along a string of a guitar. It was written in 1969. In February of 1977, the song hit #22 on the U.S. charts, and #11 on charts in the UK.
"Long Time" is a lyrical song released as a single. It was one of the band's biggest hits."
