This has bothered me since GH1... How are you gonna have a ROCK game without the KING OF ROCK AND ROLL?!?

Nuff said.

Well I can see why in a guitar oriented game that you wouldnt have Elvis, but I think some of his songs could be great in Rock Band.

Well it's true that some of his stuff would make no sense here, but some of it would be awesome.

This forums Search option shows a few threads pondering this question.

Any word? Comments?

I'm Pro-Elvis for DLC. The appeal of a familiar tune can be quite hard to resist in Rock Band

To answer the OP's question;

He could be dead. He could be alive. He could have "returned home." The world may never know!

While Elvis would be interesting, I don't think it could happen.

The game covers 4/5 of the decades of rock (40 of 50 years). Rock was in it's early stages when Elvis was big. I really don't think we will get any '50's music (although I would love to see it). If we got Elvis, we could get Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Richie Valens, etc. It would be great to see these artists live on in a video game.

While I think adding in the '50's is a good idea, how many people here would buy the '50's rock DLC? The '50's in rock and roll history isn't as "popular" as the '60's-'90's.

The cost to license any 1 Elvis song would probably bankrupt, Harmonix, EA, MTV, and Microsoft in 1 shot.

Viva Las Vegas was 1964
A Little Less Conversation was 1968

So there's 2 at least.

Microsoft doesn't pay for any of the DLC and American Idol has Heartbreak Hotel for download and a previous game had Can't Help Falling in Love.

I would love Suspicious Minds, A Little Less Conversation, maybe even some of his Christmas stuff for the late December 2008 DLC (That would be really cool)

If people stopped quoting him, I wouldn't have to read his post either. I already have him on my ignore list. You should do the same.

It really is quite silly that we don't have Elvis.

Unconfirmed rumors has it that he frequents every 7-11 in the South. My thinking behind this is he is jonesing for a Slurpee.

Elvis is every bit as relevant as The Beatles for which there are countless posts. Also, Cheap Trick who have covered the h*ll out of Elvis have been recommended left and right. Hmmm. . . Could it be that someone who was born in the mid 90's have no clue as to the legacy of Elvis Presley?

I don't think teenagers who see The Beatles as "over-rated has-beens" (as I read somewhere on this forum) have any right to an opinion about "The King of Rock and Roll" until they can at least prove they got higher than a B- in their last history class.

Kids, just because you don't like it, that doesn't make it irrelevant. Lack of sales would mean that. . . And he's the King, sales wouldn't lack.

As far as licensing Elvis songs. . . I think they would be fairly cheap, basing this off of the countless karaoke discs available of Elvis. I know in my own karaoke collection (for those that don't know I have hosted karaoke shows for over a dozen years) I have over 100 Elvis songs and I've never paid more than $10 for an Elvis disc. Most of my karaoke discs have run over double that.

I do agree that HMX would have to be selective to produce decent "Elvis" releases. I think they should be patently "Elvis", if they have been covered well - Go with the cover first! I mentioned Cheap Trick earlier, their version of "Don't Be Cruel" and "All Shook Up" were fantastic covers. . . They had the more "rockin'" version (and at that, the funner to play version (yes, I know that should have been "more fun, but it was funner to say funner)), which brings up a good point. . . Why would Harmonix produce the blah-zeh version of T-Rex's "Bang a Gong", when there is such a smokin' version out there by Power Station. I think that was a miss.
That said, Elvis could still be relevant in Rock Band with tracks like this. . .

ELVIS PACK #1
Heartbreak Hotel
Hound Dog
Jailhouse Rock
Hard Headed Woman
Suspicious Minds
Burning Love
