i know we all want the guitars from GHIII to work but why doesnt the xbox rockband guitar work on my ps3??????????:(

I think you answered your own question. I don't ever recall cross platform controller swapping.

yeah but they are trying to get us a patch to use oneone elses hardware.what about there own?

It is just a USB device -- this isn't as crazy as it sounds at first. Though I'm pretty sure that Sony would want to prevent it.
