Symptoms of a crack - enough to get a replacement?

On my pedal, I am seeing what looks like scratches. I thought that it is all they were, but the closer I looked, I realized that these marks are on both the front, side, and back and are in a straight line, indicating it probably is a crack (what scratch would make its way around the entire pedal?).

Is this enough to get a replacement, or will I have to settle for waiting until it ultimately fails completely?

yeah... it seems like the best thing to do is just have them go ahead and send another one once you get your replacement. by the time you get the next one, the last one will have failed.
