View Full Version : Usual time until Strat failure?

Just wondering...how long does it usually take for an out-of-the-box, apparently first-gen Strat to start failing under medium-heavy use? I've had it for about a week and a half, and it's being played pretty constantly, and has yet to give out on me. Granted, the strum bar feels a little squishier, but it's still perfectly responsive during gameplay. Is it possible that some of the first-gen guitars actually weren't defective, and I did get a working model? If not, well, I hope it at least lasts until my family Christmas Eve party...

Give it time. It's not a matter of "if" it will break, but rather "when".

I bought my bundle on release date and started playing about a week later. I still had to buy the PS3. Yes ..... I bought the game with no system to play it on. So I spent $700 just for this game, kinda. It's the one that finally pushed me up to the next-gen console.
My strumbar just started going bad I think. I get double hits while down strumming. I thought it was just me but in the menus, it will drop 2 lines about 25% of the time when I go down. In gameplay, it reads a 2nd hit. A note with the bars on it will blink out as soon as it's hit. It's really frustrating to get 94% on a song and only 3 stars, can't keep a streak with the 2nd hit.
I play guitar and bass on expert and strum only down. I like the softer and quieter strumbar over the clicking GHII guitars (on PS2, frowns at little guitars in corner) but I never had any issues with the things breaking.
I don't have a cc, so it looks like I gotta take the cheap, long route. No giutar for god knows how long.... '08 most likely
Now with just drums ...... kick pedal is most likely next.
I read somewhere that the newer guitars use a magnetic switch, but nothing on any fixes for the kick pedal.

I don't know why you wouldn't just take it back to the store you bought it from. I did just that after waiting over 2 weeks for my freakin' replacement guitar. To hell with the pink piece of paper instructing you to send it in. Let Wal-Mart/Target/BestBuy take care of the mess.
