Mic not working correctly with drums/guitar

Hello,

Well I got Rock Band the day it came out, great game, loads of fun, but when I try to chat with people while playing drums, or guitar, I can hear the person in the conversation, but they cannot hear me, and i get a static sound once in a while. It is really annoying me now. Any idea how to get it to work better? I pretty much smashed my mic into the little wire thing that connects to the drum kit/guitar trying to get it to go in all the way, now that i did, still no success.

EDIT: By the way I am talking about the xbox 360 headset...not the microphone that comes with the game. Sorry if it is confusing.

Unfortunately as far as I can tell, the adapter is complete junk. I had this problem of not being able to talk to people using the adapter. Two of my real life friends also can not get the adapter to work properly anymore, and I have played with 3 other people who could not get the adapter to work.

I ended up buying a 360 headset that didn't have the fat grey plug on it, so I didn't need the adapter, and now voice chat is problem free.

The adapter is shameful.

It truly is, I cannot believe that this problem wasn't tested during production. No one in their right mind would release a product like that, that didn't work. shame...
