Pretty soon I'm going to be a certified Rock Band Repair Technician.

Living In Canada, I dont qualify for the warranty, so until the release is official in Canada I've been having to repair broken down equipment myself!

First, was the stratocaster Certification - I had to adjust the micro readers as my struming wasnt register half the time and I found I was getting blisters as I had to strum so hard.

Second, was Drum kit Repair Certifcation - this one comes in 3 phases, Ive completed 1&2 and working on phase 3. First phase of this certification was the original drum pad "unresponsive" issue. I easily repaired this with the "tape" fix. The next phase was the kick drum that snapped in half. This was a little more difficult to repair and involved disassembling the pedal, gluing it together, cutting a reinforcing top from .890 thick plexy glass to match the kick pedal and then fasting it to the top of the broken pedal... My refurbished pedal is way stronger than the original!

Now to complete the Drum kit certification I need to learn how to repair/reinforce the drum pad itself. YES, MY YELLOW DRUM PAD BACKING HAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES!!!! I guess I will use some good ol' duct tape with some Popsicle sticks for now but Im sure its just a matter of time before all the Pads start cracking...

What were they thinking when they designed the hardware for this game? Let make a ROCK BAND based game with all types of rock, especially HEAVY METAL, PUNK, and HARD ROCK - yet build the game controllers as if they will be used by a 4 year old who has lived his entire life in a bubble!

EA/HMX - My hats off to you for making a great game but crap ass **** hardware to go with it.....

What a scam - Its just a matter of time that the entire drum kit will break down.

Someday we'll find out who was responsible. I'm betting a bean counter at EA who will hopefully get fired BEFORE Christmas since he ruined quite a few Christmases for us.

Duct tape alone didnt work on the drum pad, the cracks just opened up again.

I tried using small pieces of plastic from old Ice cream lids and cut them to the length of the crack and about an couple inches wider. I duct taped those in place over the crack and so far so good... We were able to play for a few hours last night and no sign of depression in the yellow pad.

I would buy some Staples round mouse pads. (http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaplesProductDisplay?&langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&productId=87870&cmArea=SEARCH) Should help protect your pads, gives great bounce and is very quiet.

If someone figures out how to make replacement drum pads and kick pedals for this game that are more durable and work better they are going to make a killing over the next year.
