View Full Version : Official Word from Gamestop About the "3 Free Game Songs"

So I emailed them Saturday and this is what I got:
Dear Valued Customer,
These songs will be predetermined, and will be announced when the game ships.
Best regards,
Chris
Original Message Follows: ------------------------
Are they predetermined tracks or is it just MSP that's worth 3 tracks (around 480 MSP)?
So I guess that it. They are predetermined tracks... Damn I might have to preorder from them...

Good, that makes it seem like they might be launch DLC or come soon after launch.

I knew it all along!
I kept telling everyone on here that there was a good chance the tracks would be predetermined and everyone laughed and said that would be stupid. I knew this would happen.
So NOW, there's more validity to my concern as to if the tracks come from Abbey Road (which is likely since its the first album) will that prevent me from playing the medley... in fact, like I said once before, I think if you do the math, it even would be more expensive to buy individual tracks minus 3 to get the whole album.
It's looking like we got screwed over with this seemingly awesome preorder promo.

So why not buy the whole album, then?
Someone else said that it could be one song from each of the announced album DLCs, which would be interesting.

It would be nice if there was launch DLC but the GameStop poster says "from future album releases."
I hate to be the downer on everyone's parade, but I'm just being realistic, looking at the things that will piss us all off later. We might as well face them now.

Or you could maintain equanimity now and only get pissed off when it's absolutely certain it's necessary.

That would be unsatisfactory because you can only get the Abbey Road medley as one track by buying the full album pack. So if one of the free songs is an Abbey Road track, you'd be buying that track anyway when you get the whole pack.

So I really wish someone from HMX would make it clearer as to whether we could play the medley uninterrupted ONLY with the full album pack OR if the full album is present on our hardrive whether via pack or all individual songs.
I know it seems like you have to have the pack, but a little official clairifcation would be nice. Can anyone with some weight around here refer HMXSean or HMXHenry to this?

Where did you hear that? There's been nothing to indicate that the only way to play the medley is to buy the whole album.

While it's not 100% certain, the wording does seem that way. Double check the DLC announcement in the Announcement section of the forums.
It says something to the affect of "those who purchase the full algbum will be given the option to play the medley as an uninterrupted 16 minute track" (paraphrased)

I thought that was in the album press release or something. My mistake if it wasn't.

I sincerely doubt HMX is going to screw over Wii owners from playing the medley since HMXSean indicated you won't be able to buy albums on the Wii (although GH5 having this feature now may cause a 180).

We're just going by what HMX is telling us. And so far the wording leads us to believe you have to buy the album to play the medley.

But I don't understand? Are they just including the Abbey Road songs on disc, as part of the album for reference? Or are we going to get two versions of "Here Comes the Sun", Come Together, Something, and Octopus's Garden? Cause why would it make sense to buy four songs I already have on disc?

Wish I had known this before I pre-ordered. Not blaming you, mind you .. just irritated at Gamestop. I thought we could choose any song. I didn't learn any speculation to this until now.

HMXSean confirmed that the songs on disc are not included in the DLC.

What if Help!, Yesterday, and Flying were the 3 Free Game Songs?

I fully admit I was one of those who thought it would be 3 songs of our choice. Plus I was flat out told by a Gamstop employee we would have choice. So as usual I don't know what to believe when it comes to information from Gamestop, I'll just wait until they hand me the code at midnight lol.
Anyway, if they ARE pre-selected, I can't imagine they would do it in a way that prevents you from being able to do something like play the medley all the way through if the songs happen to be from Abbey Road. I mean......come on. That would be very, very stupid. Something isn't right in all of this and at this point I'm just waiting until the code is in my hand or HMX directly says something about it.

Well then that would be awesome (though I could think of more awesome DLC) but somehow I'm doubting it.

Well, I only mentioned those three songs because they were the three other choices in the facebook page beside Hey Jude, which supposingly is the only unannounced song from the game. But I really doubt those will be the free songs.

We just don't know yet. At this point unless I hear it from HMX directly, I'm not going to trust any of it. Finding out at midnight on 9/9/09 is good enough for me. which is pretty much how I feel about the "additional special content" now since I've given up hope on finding out what is before I have the box in my hands.

Where did the phrase "additional special content" come from? Could they haven been referring to the pre-order club?

This is one of the reasons I wasn't all that into buying the bundle for special content and free songs from Gamestop (besides the fact that I don't need most of what is in the bundle anyway). If the free songs were specific songs, they would either be available later anyway (if they were timed exclusive), or might not work right if I was buying a full album (which I will be for everything).
I would be annoyed by this if I was waiting for the free songs, but since the actual value of the songs is pretty small ($6 or so), I'd probably just forget about it and offer the code on here to somebody who could really use it (can't afford much DLC or something like that).

Just get the songs and then delete them when you buy the albums. You get songs before the album comes out, so you have some time to play them.

Chances are the three songs won't be from the three announced DLC albums, if you ask me.

Hopefully it's a collection of three singles that would be separate anyway. She Loves You, anybody? However, Gamestop did say on an ad that they were from "future albums".

Ahh so they'll be development pictures. Nice.
Anyway, the speculation is pointless. Gamestop contradicts itself too much to trust them and it seems as if HMX will not give an official statement on it. The only real information will be when the card is in our hands. I'll let you guys know on 9/8 since I would imagine Gamestop will have them in the store already and I'm sure the worker that that I know will let me see one.

Ah, didn't read that. I'd hope one of them is "She Loves You," though. Three singles would make more sense to me.

Probably not, since all the profit is going to Doctor's Without Borders. It also said future album releases, not single releases or anything along those lines.
