Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forums, that is to say, I only just signed up, but I have already thoroughly enjoyed reading them for the last couple of weeks. :)
Whilst looking for an extra mic (hooray for harmonies) I found this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Madcatz-Rock-Band-Premium-Microphone/dp/B001B1AL88/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1251133303&sr=1-1) great deal on Amazon. A Madcatz Microphone for the Xbox 360 for only 14 pounds!
I received mine last saturday and it works like a charm. It's nice to not need to hook up an extra controller and it looks and feels nice and sturdy.:D
Oh and sorry for any grammar and/or spelling mistakes. I'm from The Netherlands

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Why would you want to but it from the US store though? 14 pounds is about 25 dollars right? The price of the microphone in the US store is 36 dollars. Although of course, shipping from the UK could get expensive.

Why can't they release this Mic for PS3 :(

Kind of a pointless link. The reason he linked the UK page is because the UK mic is significantly cheaper. 9.95 in pounds is a little over $16.

Wow, only 9.95 pounds now! When I started this thread (and when I ordered it,lol:rolleyes:) it was still 14 pounds.

This mic is terrible, not worth anything. My friend has one and it's just bad. You'll be better off getting a Lips mic or something.

Bad? Why? Usually Madcatz products are really great. What's wrong with his mic?

Or am I merely feeding a troll..

Not really, once you add in the shipping and conversion, Amazon UK says this:

Items: GBP 9.95
Postage & Packing: GBP 5.99
Promotion Applied: -GBP 0.00
Total: GBP 15.94
Payment Total: USD 27.30

Thanks for that. That was the reasoning behind the US link.

That's still $9 cheaper than the US one, though I guess the mic was more expensive when the link was first posted. :p

$9 cheaper, but also a hell of a lot longer wait for it to get to your house.

I haven't had any complaints with the Madcatz mic - any issues were easily addressed by correctly adjusting the sensitivity, something I'll bet most complainers have not attempted.

That said, I'm wondering if this would be suitable for a TB:RB vocal setup. If you only have one vocalist, it's fine - but the system is going to work by assigning all mics to one single controller. Since this mic IS a controller, I'm wondering if there will be conflicts, or outright inability to use it as the "main" vocal controller.

I've been trying to find Lips, because $40 for two wireless mics is better than $50 for the single, standalone wireless mic. But in my area, I can't find them on the shelves anywhere. It almost makes me suspect that M$ pulled the game to sell more units of their new microphone!

If it acts as a controller, you had better have only one of those, instead of three. Because the mics don't act as a controller usually. you would be screwing yourself over.

Mm, I see what you guys are getting at. So if I use one Madcatz mic, one GH:WHT mic and one mic from the bundle I should be fine right?

Well, we honestly don't know yet - and may not know until the game comes out and someone tries.

I'm skeptical about it myself.

Theoretically, yes. I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work. You would only have 1 controller assigned to the vocalist.

This thread reminds me of the fact that I still have to find two other mics for the full experience. Technically, I have two mics, but one of them (the Rock Band one) makes a terrible noise when used >_>

See if you can find Lips for less than regular retail price. That will net you two wireless microphones, and perhaps you can trade in or sell the disc.

Madcatz?

MAAAADCATZZZ?!

Hey now, my P-Bass is Madcatz and it is awesome! With that being said, I wasn't really impressed with the quality of this microphone. Great concept but the plastic housing feels kinda cheap (almost too light in your hand) and it doesn't pick up the singer's voice quite as well as the standard RB mic does. Great concept, just would have liked it to be on par the with P-Bass and (hopefully) the Telecaster!

(yeah...the Telecaster and real wood Strat aren't out yet...but the both look top shelf)

Would I be able to use 2 of these for harmonies, 1 being the main vocal (player signed in) and another just as a mic?

HeadHunter67

I don't know if two of them would work together in this kind of game - each one is going to look for a controller quadrant. You'd be better off using just one as the main vocal controller, and regular USB mics (such as the one that comes with RB or GH bundles) for the others.

They will, actually. Even 3 would work. See this thread:

That's about Lips mics. We're talking about the MadCatz M.I.C. with the integrated controller.
