I preordered a copy of Rock Band SE at my local EB Games (Game Stop) and than learned that it was delayed to something around December 20th. I was alright with that and decided i could wait. So i've been waiting all this time and i decide to go to EB again and make sure on the release date so i don't miss it. When i get there they tell me that they are expecting something like 10 copies to come in and me, being 35th on the waiting list, would be highly unlikely to get the game until after Christmas and even into the new year. I'm pretty frustrated.... I was jsut wondering if any of you guys out in Canada have to deal with the same issue. Maybe it's only EB or only this location? I'll have to go check other stores...

My EB said they only took the bare minimum of pre-orders (around 7-10 for both systems combined I think) and said that anyone of pre-ordered before they closed pre-orders will get their copies. I got the last PS3 pre-order a month and a half ago, and it was funny, because the guy who was going to pre-order the PS3 version was right before me.

Yeah once my final exams are finished i'll have to come up with a detailed strategy of which stores to search. My best bet would be Rogers Video, Supersore, wal-mart first. I think most people will go to future shop, best buy and eb first.

Future Shop and Best But will in all likely hood get the biggest shipments then probably Walmart, then Zellers .,then a three way tie between Eb Games HMV, and rogers/blockbuster

as per the big two they will in all likely hood not release one till their official release, walmart will just toss them on to the floor when available. Zellers have has issues with staff buying all the stock ,

as per the lil guys Eb stores other then gamecentres have Small small stores considering the box is 2 1/2 feet buy 1/ feet so about 1 meter and 40 cm wide , they probably wont be able to support massive shipments , Hmv probably can handle alot more as well as rogers + and Blockbuster gamecentres .but as per their dates of arrival its all up in the air

there's one store that has the bundle for xbox but th price is a tad expensive, asking 600.00 for it. Blockbusters i called said they didn't know when they would get the game since they haven't even gotten gh3 yet.

I have the same issue with my local EB in Toronto, I am 25 on the list, so they told I'm lucky if I get it on the second shipment but expect it on the 3rd in the new year. Now this is extremely unfare since I could have pre-ordered from a bigger box store

But sorry to hear that you didn't get a pre-order in time. My friend's advice was to camp out at a local FS or BB.

I work for a Rogers Video and actually spoke with the guy who does all the games purchasing for the chain... he told me that he doesn't expect many, if any stores, to get the game before Christmas. He thought maybe the the stores close the the warehouse (we get our EA games direct from EA, although I'm not sure where their warehouse is) MIGHT get it.

The ship date is the 20th, which is a Thursday, which leads right into the weekend and then Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

Fingers crossed everyone. I'm hoping that Futureshop or EB manage to get it.

its luck of the draw with Best Buy and FutureShop as they get shipments of popular games based on their sales consistency IE: yesterday in the GTA all BB/FS locations had a "shipment of wi's" no my local BB was told they were getting over 100 but do to FS sales of gaming products and the opening of a second fs in my city they only ended up getting 9 while the original FS got 60 and the new one 40

However, it included little gems like "allocations are minimal" (our store is getting 2 for each system ((keep reading)))...

There's no way they're going to do that. How is that fair for someone that has a full time job and can't just leave work? I just spoke to 3 EB stores in Edmonton and all have confirmed that they are getting shorted for preorders and that they will be sold depending on who preordered first.

To you guys in edmonton (and I'm surprised there are so many of us :) when did you place your preorders? I had a preorder back in july when the SE wasn't even available and I switched it to SE on Sept. 10. I tried finding out what number I am on the preorder list but the store I called said they couldn't at the moment (manager is busy). I'm going to call back tomorrow and get them to confirm my order but I must be near the top of the list.
Oh and I preordered in St. Albert for the PS3.

Only no one seems to know for sure WHEN the shipment is coming and FS/BB still have it as the 28th. Some are saying it's shipping monday others saying thursday. Logically they'd be out of their minds to ship it on thursday but with all the mess ups/ball dropping that's already gone on it wouldn't suprise me.

I work at Best Buy in the gaming department. I asked my manager and he told me it's been delayed again for another week (28th). He also said the disc only version will be available on the 20th though. I'm not sure how reliable this info is, but I also checked the inventory and 0 units are in transit for the special edition bundle. It kind of makes sense too because there are no new games being released next week on the Wii, 360 or PS3.

Nope, in Ontario and there are a lot of people asking about the game. Not as much demand as Guitar Hero, but that's because a lot of people don't know about this game and that Harmonix created Guitar Hero. If your store is giving out tickets, just show up at 5-6, they'll hand you a ticket and you can get some sleep and come back when they open.

Called my EB, Morningside in Toronto, Ontario. They said the bundle is indeed coming on Thursday but they don't know how much they are getting in. I asked if I would get one because I pre-ordered and he said "Well it depends on how much we get, we probably won't fulfill all pre-orders. If you get a call on Thursday it means you got it." Now I'm a little worried because I pre-ordered on Oct. 25 so I'm probably low on the list. I asked if I could see a list, and he said "Well we're doing it in order of pre-orders but we don't have a list." I still don't see how they can't get me my number in queue, it makes no sense to me. I'll call back tomorrow.

Best buy and futureshop will probabley get the most shipments inn seeing as they have the most buying power in canada. Saying that its still gonna be next to impossible to get one w/out a pre-order before x-mas

Yes, Harmonix did say they'd ship it, but they didn't mention which version. The game itself will be in stores on the 20th, but we're talking about the special edition. You guys can believe whatever you want, we're just trying to provide you guys with some inside information. Unfortunately what you are claiming is incorrect as i have ordered from Gamestop who got a number of bundles for the ps3 and the 360 which was confirmed, and to add to that mine was shipped out on the 14th Dec as its coming to Australia

I just spoke to the manager at my local EB and although he said he's not heard about there being a delay from his superiors he said a lot of customers have been saying that RB is delayed until the 28th. I don't care what other consumers are saying as up until the Shacknews story I thought it might be delayed until the 28th as well.

WillDrum4Food, which retailer do you work for? I see we have one person that works for BB and one from FS that are claiming the same as you so I'm curious if you work for another company.

I hope HMXJonhLok can respond to this and put our fears aside. I am going to be extremely unsatisfied (to put it lightly) if I find out the shipping date is Dec. 20 for the stand alone game only. Especially considering the stand alone copy for PS3 is useless.

Hey I'm a really long time creeper (started back in the summer) and a first time poster.

Anyway I work at a retailer and I checked with my manager and he says it all depends on how it's shipped and where it's shipped from. I'm from Alberta so if it's shipped from Vancouver rather than Toronto, we'll get it a lot faster. It also depends if they ship it by air or ground (remember big items are expensive to ship and it really depends if the distributor wants to pay for all of that to get the item across Canada ASAP).

I believe it was the special edition (although it could've been just the game; it was super busy today so my mind was all over the place) that we had an order to be sent out out on the 20th or 22nd (it's still open so it could change and it will get more accurate as the days count down. Take that with a grain of salt as per an open entry, it's not totally accurate)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll see it before Christmas and hopefully my note to my coworkers saying to put one on hold for me doesn't get lost by then haha (I'll be calling everday pretty much though to see if we have it in haha).

Personally I think the 28th is pretty accurate at the time it will be in stores, remember there's a pretty big holiday in the middle of next week :cool:

It's 169.99 when I checked our inventory system today, so don't worry about the 199.99 on the website. Even if it was 169.99, Best Buy has a "Lowest Price Guarantee". Customers can match the price and get an additional 10% off. So they'd be selling bundles at 166.99, so I highly doubt they'd sell them for 199.99 to get their prices matched.

Shouldn't be very worried about it if you've ordered it online. It's the people that had no where at all to pre-order or had their pre-order canned that should be concerned. Have to check everyday through the Xmas rush. If they're being as stupid to SHIP it on thursday will have to check next monday and tuesday too wich would be even more fun. Not going to be very please if it's not untill next monday or tuesday and it turns out to be the game only.

I've been following the forum since about mid october and took my preorder at my local eb near Montreal, Quebec on nov 7th. I've watched a lot of games being released over the years and I for sure can confirm it won't come out on the 20th. Even tought I'm fourth on the list, I know I won't get it. Why does this have to be complicated... a DVD release is always on time. Well, good luck on finding it and I guess it will come out on the 28th or some days later just like BB or FS says.

I wouldn't say it was handled poorly at all, it actually looks like it was handled really well (free EA game, no questions asked with exchange, etc.) just I guess **** happens.

If the Ottawa EB is (supposedly) getting it no later than Friday then it looks like it's being shipped from Toronto, so us Westerners will have to wait a little bit longer. I'm going down to the mall tonight (to start and finish my Christmas shopping haha) and I'll see if there has been any updates in our system.

Until the order is closed and finalized, there's no way of knowing for sure when it will be in.

I just really hope it doesn't come in on boxing day, that would be a complete nightmare! First off I work that day so it will be torture waiting to go home to play it and the chance my copy might get sold in the chaos! That would be the worst.

When did you pre-order? My EB won't tell me where I am on the list, and it would be nice to know approximately when everyone pre-ordered to be at the top of the list.

Ask to speak to the manager at the EB that you preordered from. As far as I know they are the only person who can tell you what number you are on the list. I had quite a few employees tell me that they didn't know how to check and after someone on these boards mentioned speaking with a manager I tried that and he checked for me.

I preordered at the EB in St. Albert on Sept 10 and I have the first PS3 SE preorder in that store which made my day :D As long as the store gets one copy it'll be mine, mua ha ha. But I do hope we see more to spread Rock Band joy across the land.

At this point if I have to wait the extra week I don't really care that much. Yeah it sucks to see it delayed again with no mention from above, but I'm going to be pretty busy for the next week with Christmas stuff so it's not that bad (at least that's what I'm telling myself :D)

I work at Best Buy in the gaming department. I asked my manager and he told me it's been delayed again for another week (28th). He also said the disc only version will be available on the 20th though. I'm not sure how reliable this info is, but I also checked the inventory and 0 units are in transit for the special edition bundle. It kind of makes sense too because there are no new games being released next week on the Wii, 360 or PS3.

And if it ships on the 20th, I do estimate it will come sometime later. My EB has said that they'll have it on warehouse Thursday, and beginning selling it Thursday - Friday. Latest Monday. It helps that the warehouse is right beside it.

I phone eb today "hi is rock band out yet?" "no it's being shipped on the 20th which means it'll either get here monday (christmas eve) or thrusday" "oh ok..." "but if your pre-order isnt in the top 15 you'll have to wait even longer" "bye". I think God hates me. This is the second time it's been delayed and I'm now guessing I'll be getting it a week or two after Christmas which will also mean the end of Christmas Break. But there's more. I have the red ring of death and on dec 13th i ordered a box from microsoft to be shipped to me so I can send it back for repairs. Luckily I use the towel trick and it keeps my 360 barely alive. Unluckily I am probably going to recieve the box just in time not to play Rock Band. yay!

This situation just gets more depressing every day. I decided not to buy a copy from Ebay last month because I would just wait it out and study for my exams. Now I'm on winter break and the release just keeps getting pushed back. I called Toys R Us and Wal-Mart today, both said they have no idea when they're getting it in. Even if FutureShop/BestBuy get the game in on the 28th, I'm working all day and most of that weekend and then the break is already over.

I'm trying to see if I can drive to Buffalo, but that's a good chunk of time + money + risk if they don't even have the game.

He meant 6 for each, we have received the allocation numbers, most stores will receive around 4-8 copies for PS3 and 8-20 for Xbox 360. The allocations were divied out based on who pre-ordered the game the earliest. So there will be some stores that will not receive any copies at all if they didn't have customers that preordered early enough.

I will let you know that for St Albert, you are safe if you are # 1 for PS3.

Yeah this is definitely one game that I am so glad I preordered. I remember back in May or earlier when all the gaming sites were previewing RB and talking about how amazing it looked. I went out in June and preordered and then changed my preorder in Sept when the SE was available. I normally get excited for games that I really want but RB is something else. Just ask my girlfriend, I'm sure she wants RB to come out more then I do (so I stop talking about it lol)

I'm curious to see how many copies FS and BB actually get because I don't expect them to get that many, but I guess we'll see.
