Police say the driver, Bryan Lee, told them he thought he was going between 55 and 60 miles per hour.

The car salesman told officers he estimated it was up to 70 miles per hour.

However, Sgt. Todd Shaw says the Dodge's crash data recorder shows it was going 101 miles per hour just one second before impact.

In court Monday morning, Bryan Lee, 30, was formally charged with two counts of manslaughter in the first degree.

Here is my question to you, We know that the two men in the car are lying, and that the crash data from the Challenger stated 101, should this evidence be admissible in court?

Only if it has been proven to work perfectly (100%) in testing.

Every salesman I have ever dealt with has encouraged me to "see what this baby can do" usually after I'm going well over the speed limit. Though there is a place where personal responsibility comes into play, but maybe there should also be some kind of limiter in test drive cars on public roads.

I continue to not get it. Why have an engine on a car capable of going over 80 if that's about the highest legal speed anywhere?

Well no one said you had to drive on a public road. :D

Besides pretty much any car (truck suv) is capable of going over 80.

I don't see a problem with it being admitted as evidence. Of course the defense would have every opportunity to question and discredit that evidence. And then a jury can decide one way or another if said evidence is valid.

If you connect the dots it sounds like a sad story though for all concerned.

I'm aware... that's why I said that...

I can understand going over the speed limit, but 101 is crazy. They are both at fault.

Autobahn. But that's in Europe, soooo. Yeah, it's definitely a great question.
