View Full Version : Proposal: History of Rock/Album Reviews MERGER

Now mods (if you even look at this thread), hear me out.
Pretty much all the same posters are the ones posting in these two sections. Often times Album Reviews has threads that belong here and vice versa.
The upcoming Lego Rock Band is probably going to make another subforum appear. At a certain point both of these subforums are going to get buried beneath all the others.
Having one forums just talking about music, not requesting it, would be much easier for posters who want to get their inner nerd on.
I've heard multiple posters mention why they haven't been merged already. I think it would be pretty reasonable (unless it would be difficult to do), and would increase the traffic for the one subforum, spurring more discussion.
Just my two cents.

yes. good idea. there are too many subforums.

Specific subforums = good.
Overly generic subforums = bad.
I'd rather have to scroll a bit further and have specific subforums than have to dig around in overarching forums to find threads that interest me.

I like having the two being unmerged, to be honest.

I'm torn on it, but voted no...

Merged? No
Both together under a sub-forum, being that both sub forums would be a sub-sub-forum under that sub-forum. Yes.
 sorry

I couldn't care less, not much of a problem either way.

Despite the questionable wording, I actually agree.
Having a "music discussion" category would actually be a good idea. It could either be a whole sub-forum with sub-sub-forums (like "Band Wanted" and it's three sub-forums), or just a section.
I'd prefer the section. Instead of it going "Rock Band Forums > Rock Band > History of Rock > [thread title]," I'd like "Rock Band Forums > Music Discussion > History of Rock > [thread title]."

Glad you understood what I was trying to say there. I knew what to say, just didn't know what to say. You know?
But yes, that's exactly what we need. Just a category for Music Discussion and these 2 sub-forums can be under it.

Album Reviews IS pretty superfluous and people pretty much use the two folders to serve the same function anyway.

Judging by the poll I'm leaning against no now, considering the majority of the regs. don't want it. I had heard complaints before.

I think it would be better if people just learned to use them both properly.

While some do, there are others who start Overrated Bands threads in Album Reviews that get over 500 replies.

I'm quite aware. I think the mods should just be moving threads to the appropriate sections, rather than merger them.

I hate to break it to you, but the mods usually only come into either section when some bad juju magumbo is going down, or when Henry posts an awesome thread.

I fully realize that. I'm not saying it's perfect the way it is. I just think there are better alternative than merging them.
Also, you forgot when Veng posts in my MDF2010 thread. :p

Timmay, I have a new suggestion. Can we force members to pass an IQ test before making an account?

There would be a problem though, because you would be deleted.

Now that's a reference that proves your intelligence. You could've been a Grimes.

I'd just be happy with any "Vs" or overrated/underrated band thread to be immediately closed
