Any Funk-Rock would be AMAZING for this game, I don't care if it is on the game disc or if it's DLC. Anything from P-Funk to Tower of Power to Talking Heads to (etc.)

Please Harmonix.:)

I agre with you both. I think they should not be afriad to go outside Rock and include some punk, funk, and even some R&B, or classic blues. I still am yearning to see some Prince and Jimi hendrix on the set list...

I say if you want funk rock you cant go wrong with Extreme Get the Funk Out or Cupid's dead would be great for the game. Or Aeroplan by Red Hot Chili Peppers and though noone's ever heard of the song Same Side by Ugly Kid Joe would kick ass and be awesome on bass.

They are too BubbleGum funk to me. I'm used to oldschool funk/soul like Sly and the family stone, Tower of Power, or Aretha Franklin's "Rock Steady".

I've always heard of Tower of Power, but never heard their music till recently. It is pretty funky stuff though the ltrics are kind of poppy.

Maggot Brain would be a great Rock Band song, otherwise we have to wait for Funk Band and Soul Band to come out. Maybe they'll release some funky DLC.

Is there going to be a Funk Band or Soul band though? I would LOVE to buy them if there will be...

Absolutely the biggest need in the song mix, except for a better male/female lead singer balance. It's borderline racism in my book.

The challenge with funk in RB is that a lot of funk songs are horn- or snyth-heavy, so you have to throw those out due to the instrument mix in RB. Also, ones that have long, long grooves are fun to dance to but could be boring in RB. So, how about:

Rick James - Superfreak, Give it to me, baby
Sly & the Family Stone - Thank You Falletinme Be Mice Elf Again,Sing a Simple Song
James Brown - Get Up (Sex Machine); Talkin Loud & Sayin Nothin
P-Funk - Give Up the Funk
Ohio Players - Love Rollercoaster (people will know this one due to the RHCP cover)
Stevie Wonder - Superstitious (I bet this would be a really challenging guitar part), Higher Ground
Kool & The Gang - Jungle Boogie

Prince deserves his own section, so I won't even list him here...

We could do horns/synths/etc on a keyboard, if they ever release one...

Interesting how you bring up the RHCP cover to Love Rollercoaster, but forget the fact that GH1 had an RHCP cover of Higher Ground. There are a few songs on your list that I think may be a little too repetitive to work very well in the game (i.e. Thank You Falletinme Be Mice Elf Again), but all in all it's a good list. And I'd be really careful using the r-word around here. It'll just attract angry people posting angry messages and has a chance of getting the thread locked (not because of what you said, but because of what other people say in response to it).

Yeah this game seriously need more genres other than just Rock. I wasn't gonna buy it at first. I had to get talked into it. But now i'm glad i got it. But still wished they'd put some funk, r&b, rap, jazz, and blues in.

Yeah I know its Rock Band. but, seriously thet are actually cutting their profit potential by not including these genres.

I'm Black and I know folks who would buy the game but haven't due to they don't know the songs at all. I knew about 30% of the disc songs. thats why i didn't buy it at first. I could go deeper into this but won't cause what i said already may draw the negative comments.

But here is a small list thet would work for the game.
most Rick James
walk this way - RunDMC & Aerosmith
Rockbox - RunDMC
most Prince
Jacko
Parliments
BB King

there are more of course
