I'll actually be testing this soon if no-one can answer for sure...but does the PS3 Stratocaster work on PC? Is it picked up as a normal Sixaxis (which does work on PC with some custom drivers)? Cause if so, it could theoretically be used with a joystick-to-keyboard mapping program to play Guitar Hero 3 on PC. Though you'd technically be breaking the GH3 EULA, but whatever.

Yes, it works on the PC with no drivers needed. It is seen as a standard joystick device.
Do you have a "joystick-to-keyboard mapping program" that you would recommend?

Indeed I do. It's called Xpadder (http://www.xpadder.com/). I haven't tested it with GH3 yet, but it's worked flawlessly with my Sixaxis and a couple games that mysteriously don't support joystick input. (Specifically, Beyond Good & Evil...strange, considering it's a console port.)

Thank you! I'll have to check it out!
Hehe.. I'm just thinking about the prospects of playing DDR with my drum kit.

Just got the chance to check it out...The whammy bar doesn't seem to be detected by Xpadder; however, mine is broken (spring or rubber band or whatever snapped, so there's no tension), so I can't say for sure. After testing it in GH3...there seems to be a little lag, but it should be fixable in the calibration options.
EDIT: My mistake. There is a LOT of lag--I think it started being roughly on time at about 70ms. And for anyone else just trying it out--the calibration thing doesn't seem to actually change the way the video syncs with the audio; it just gives you more leeway for hitting notes late. Meaning, notes will still register as correct for about half an hour after they've passed the marker. Which can cause you to lose focus when you think you've missed a note. A little annoying.

I'm not surprised the whammy bar would not work since it's an analog control.
Kind of why I can never play racing games worth a crap on my PC using a keyboard. Having a key for a gas pedal is annoying, Key down=Foot in carburetor, Key up=Idle.
Gotta have that analog control so you can have a range of motion for the game.
I would map one of the buttons on the guitar to the whammy key, like the PS button. Sure you'd look like a dork spamming it but it would work, in theory.
